Shadows in the Dark: Rise of Three

Chapter X

"Veronica? Veronica? You there?" Asks the voice on the phone. I still haven't figured it out yet. How could I have a half sister that looks my age? That's just not possible. Well it is if she was on my dads side, but she's not. She's on my mothers side. "Veronica?!"

"Huh?" I ask. Still staring at the door.

"You ok? What do you mean half sister?"

"She have the same mom. She looks my age which is weird."

"She could just look your age, but she could be younger or older."

"True. Who is this?" I ask. Still unsure of who I'm talking to.

"Jake. Y?"

"Couldn't place your voice. Why are you calling me?"

"Jennifer won't tell me where you are. We need to talk."

"Why? Did my mother come back?"

"What? No. We need to talk about the kiss."

"What kiss? I've never heard of anything called the kiss."

"No. Do you have brain damage or something? We kissed Veronica. I would like to talk to you about where we stand."

"Huh? Oh. Right. That's the reason I'm across town. Duh."

"Where are you?"

"A supernatural bakery. I don't really know where. I sorta just teleported here because I stumbled upon it a few days ago."

"Then can you come to the park? It's across town from the Sanctuary."

"Are you there?"

"Yes. I was demon hunting here last night and I never went back."

"Ok. I'll be right there. I just have to pay first."

"Ok. Great! How long?"

"A minute or two."

"Are you that close?"

"Probably not dumbass. I can teleport."

"Oh. Ya. Right."

"See you soon." I hang up and go pay for my breakfast. I get my stuff then walk out the door. I turn down the alley and look for people. I think about the park Jake could've been thinking about then I'm in the vortex then at the park. I turn around and run right into Jake.

"Sorry."

"It's ok."

"Did anyone see me?"

"No. I moved to a less populated part of the park once you said you were teleporting in."

"Good idea."

"Thanks."

"So you wanted to talk? I'm here. What do you want?"

"Ya. Um. First I wanted to apologise for the way Is reacted. She dated for a little before she was adopted or was even in process to be adopted. It wasn't even an option at the time.

"Once we heard my parents were adopting her, I ended it. It took me about a month after she was finally adopted to get over her. Sometimes she hints that she's not over me like the way she reacted when she walked in on us."

"Ya. I heard you talking to Jennifer about it. What's your point?"

"Can we start over? I wanna be with you but I wanna do it the right way. So will you go out with me?"

"What about Isabelle?"

"She's my sister. She can't do anything about it. I like you. I wanna be with you. Isabelle is in my past."
