"Shocked to see me here? Well here I am. Fair warning. You can't kill me. I have the advantage."
"And what's that?" I ask.
"I'm a real vampire, and I have been alive for centuries, so I am fairly strong. Plus. I have your dad." He says casually like he's talking about taking us on a picnic.
"What?!" I ask sounding worried.
"I. Have. Your. Dad. Is it really that hard to understand? Here's the deal. If you even try to kill me. I'll have him killed. He's being closely watched. If I die. So. Does. He."
"You're bluffing." Says Jake because I'm too shocked to speak.
"I'm really not. Wanna see him?" He asks. He throws a phone to Jake. He looks at the screen. I look too, and it's my dad laying on his hospital bed.
"How do I know he's not dead already? Or that you'll kill him just because he 'annoyed' you."
"I'm giving you my word."
"I don't trust you. I do trust this." I pull a small blade out of my boot. The same blade Michel used on several men, women, and children. He looks at me in shock, and so does my mother. The first real emotion I've seen from him or my mother.
"Hand it over." Elizabeth says to me.
"No thanks. I think I'll keep it." I teleport it back into my boot, but they don't know that. "After all. Not many people can get their hands on it because most of them are dead. That kind of knife can come in handy."
"How do you know so much about it?" Michel asks.
"I see things. Oops. Did I say see things? I just gave away one of my talents. Oops."
"Your a pain in my ass. That's why I tried to have you killed. Obviously that didn't work out."
"Your assassin lost his head. Sorry about that. Oh wait. No I'm not."
"You little bitch!" Says Michel.
Jake let's out a laugh and tosses the phone back. "Doesn't look like you're having a good night."
Michel looks at the phone and he starts to look really angry. He stares at the phone a little longer, then throws it at the wall. It shatters into many little pieces. "I'm going to kill you and all of your stupid friends."
"You can try. As you can tell from tonight. We aren't that easy to kill." I say and take Jake's hand. I think about the Sanctuary, I feel the tugging feeling, then I'm in the vortex and out all in the matter of seconds.
I blur us to the infirmary and see my dad laying on one of the beds. I let go of Jake's hand and run over to my dad. I fall to my knees at his bedside and I take his hand. I start to cry. I don't know how long I stay like that. I just cry and cry. I let the tears keep coming. I cry about almost loosing my dad, almost dying, killing my best friend. All of it.
**************
A few days have passed since the fight at the warehouse. Jennifer went back the next day, and they were gone. She's been going out every night trying to find the tracks of where they went. She still has had no luck.
I walk down to the kitchen for some breakfast. I start to smell French Toast. I keep walking and enter the kitchen to find my dad at the stove. He's making French Toast. I smile and stare at him from the doorway.
He turns toward me and smiles. "Morning sweetheart!"
"Morning dad! I didn't know they let you out."
"They didn't, but I was feeling better and I was in the mood to make French Toast." We laugh and I walk over to help him out.
"So how are you doing with all of this?" He asks.
