Percy woke up later than usual on the murky, cold Saturday morning. He had brewed many potions yesterday and it had taken a toll on him. There was fog above the Black Lake again, draping a vast majority of the Hogwarts ground under them. When the demigod woke up, his friends were still asleep. He silently walked to the baths, yawning on the way as he greeted his juniors in the common room. He gave himself a hasty wash before changing into a t-shirt and his signature blue hoodie with a pair of trousers. He lazily walked back to his dorm, to find his friends awake and chatting about what the first task could be. They stopped as they spotted Percy, not wanting to pressurize their friend. Percy smiled as they changed the topic to the hogsmeade weekend, over the last month he had gotten closer to his friends at the wizarding school. He still missed his Camp friends sometimes but the pain had weakened to a numb now. The seventh year Hufflepuffs left their dorm room together as they walked to the baths. Percy bid farewell to them at the common room door, explaining that he had already bathed.
He continued on his way to the grand entrance, eager to get out of the huge castle. He had carried his hoverboard and a backpack with him and he swung the bag around to pull out the hoverboard that was hanging out the top. He smiled as he took it in his hands, he was very proud of his creation. He mumbled a good morning to the paintings that had woken up as he exited the castle and walked into the fog filled air outside. He slowly made his way his usual spot, putting down the bag on the frosty grass. He put his board down on the ground, it floated a few inches above the grass as its owner got on it, enjoying the cool winter air as he zoomed above the lake. The morning sun looked beautiful behind the heavy clouds that had covered the castle grounds. It cast a dim yellow glow in the sky, making it pleasant to look at it. The Scottish winter had begun, but the curse of achilles had dimmed it to a regular New York October for the son of Poseidon. After flying around for some time, Percy decided to join his friends for breakfast in the Great Hall. Zack and the other kids had asked Percy for his board, but seeing how visibility was very poor, Percy declined their request. He did feel bad as he looked at the saddened faces of the youngsters but their safety was more important.
He greeted the various portraits on the way and spent some time asking about their wellbeing, as he entered the Great Hall, he was welcomed with the usual glares which were promptly ignored by him as he strutted over to the Hufflepuff table, confidence seeping from every step. He greeted his friends as he sat down. The Beauxbatons students were not present there, Percy's face darkened a little. He was looking forwards to talk with Fleur. He started loading his plate with sandwiches as he half heartedly involved himself in conversation with his friends. They were very excitedly discussing about what they would do in Hogsmeade today. Percy smiled as he realized that he would get to spend some time with Fleur.
He was halfway through his meal as the morning owls arrived with the daily mail. Several brown and black owls entered the Hall from the top of the huge windows, dropping packages to the receivers as they hurried out of the hall. A normal looking barn owl swooped down and landed in front of Percy. There were two letters attached to it, Percy removed them and picked up a piece of bacon before feeding it to the bird who flew away happily.
Percy looked over the letters and found that they were thick parchments and smelled like female perfume, he recognized the handwriting immediately, one was from Amanda and the other from Chanel. Percy turned to look at his friends who were busy talking to each other. He decided to read the letters in the Great Hall itself, hoping that they would provide some much needed motivation to him.
Dear Percy,
Congratulations on becoming champion of Hogwarts! You did it! Just like you said you would! We are all so very impressed! And we read what those papers said about you Percy, that nasty bitch! Catherine was furious when she read it! Though we mostly believe it was because Beauxbatons didn't get half the attention Hogwarts did. But rest assured we are all on your side, you deserve this Percy, don't let anyone tell you different!
