"Amara, its time to go to bed my princess." Maa spoke softly while caressing my hair while she held aaru in her arms. He was so small and fragile. His cheeks puffy and lips pouting as he slept cradled in her arms. My baby brother was prettier than all my pretty dolls. Angelic is what he was. And I couldn't help but want to keep playing with him all day long.

I peek another look at his face. His red cheeks and slight furrow of his eyebrows at some sort of displeasure before it breaks into a full grin.

"Maa! You know that princess loves listening to bed time stories before falling asleep!" My big brother protested as he jumped onto the bed next to me.

Atharva Roy.

He was my big brother. And the closest friend I had since the day I was born. His light hearted jokes and charming smiles made me feel safe. Safe to know that I didn't need any friends as long as he was by my side.

He slowly pulled the blanket over both of us in a soft motion and pulled me down next to him.

"See! We are tucked into bed before half past eight maa. Now tell us a story!" He demanded while looking at me to say something that would make maa agree and tell us our favourite bed time stories.

She sighed in dismay. She looked exhausted. And I felt bad to make maa over work. I didn't like it. I never liked anyone overworking especially for me.

"Bhai... maa looks very tired. We can listen to the story tomorrow." I say still in a sulky voice wanting nothing more than a bed time story. My big brother looked at me with a horrified face and his eyes flashed betrayal.

"How could you?! You little-" He glared playfully and pulled onto a few strands of my hair. Not hard enough to hurt me but still hard enough to let me know that that is not what people on the same team do.

"Birds of a feather... Flock together!" Bhai said in a dead serious tone. While looking dead seriously at me. Maa couldn't help but let out a snort at how the talk escalted to team participation.

I looked at him. Thinking that it will eventually work and he would let me go.

"Nuh...Uh! Those puppy eyes won't work on me today, princess! Repeat after me! Birds of a feather... Flock together!" He repeated while sitting upright this time throwing his arms into the air. While scrutinizing me with the glare that said you better repeat after me!

"Birds of a feather... Flock together!" I got up and pumped my fists up in the air copying his actions.

"Say it louder with me once again!" He demanded.

"Birds of a feather... Flock together!" We yelled together this time and then burst into a fit of laughter when we felt someone tickle us back down onto our backs.
