CHARLIE

FATE HAD ALWAYS PLAYED in my favor. Fate has always been there for me. Telling me what's supposed to happen and what to look out for. Savannah not believing that we were fated to meet wasn't a surprise, but I did catch myself hoping she'd agree.

In the end she just shrugged and turned to fix the color in her canvas.

I already feel like I need to see her, even though we painted yesterday. When I told her about my childhood she was understanding. She didn't look at me with pity, just amazement.

I felt my ego expand from her touches and her calm demeanor.

It's crazy how much I'm already attached to her. How much I crave to see her and have her in my life. It springs a pain in my heart from the uncertainty of her being here after the 26th.

I can't even think to imagine what it would be like knowing she was here. Knowing she was here, talking to me, spending time with me, laughing with me if she ever leaves this world.

I slowly make my way over to where I think she could be, but before I turn the corner I hear Cain.

And it's boiling the blood in my veins knowing he's standing next to her.

"I can't believe you would be that stupid to go out with him again!" I hear his voice not even trying to be quiet. I notice some of the students looking towards them but I stay for a moment longer.

"Cain, I don't want to talk about it with you." Savannah's voice is already exhausted and I hear the anxiety in it.

"But you have no problem going with him when I texted you yesterday?" He sneers.

"I wasn't feeling well." Her honest answer is quiet and soft. I know she's not trying to anger him.

"Well enough to spend time with him. You're a fucking liar, Sav."

"We're not together!" Savannah defends. "I don't have to explain myself to you."

"I'm your friend! I'm always fucking here, supporting you, protecting you!" Cain's voice is rushed and I hear his frustration. It's fake, acted out.

"I don't ask you to do that."

"As if I can stop! Everything you do makes me worried! You make me sick with worry, Savannah!" Cain's voice yells betrayal but he has no time to continue yelling at her when I turn the corner and step up to Savannah.

She doesn't see me, Cain does.

"Get the fuck away from us, asshole." He sneers at me and I cross my arms.

Savannah turns to meet my eyes and I smile at her.

"Don't talk to her like that." I turn back to Cain. His fucking nose is wrinkled as he watches me and Savannah.
