Arlecchino's POV
"Father, there is a guest for you." Lyney bowed behind me, his presence reflected in the shine of the goblet in my hand.
"Who?"
"Il Dottore, he said." He kept his voice low.
"...let him in."
Lyney bowed once more, and left, leaving me sitting alone at the round table, the rest of the room filled with books on shelves, organized according to their genre. A set of footsteps soon re-entered the room, heavier than Lyney's. Small clinks of metal and the ruffling of feathers accompanied these heavy steps.
I could see Dottore smirking at me in the reflection of the goblet. I set it down and put my hands on my lap, but did not turn around, nor greet him. I waited for him to speak.
"No warm welcome, hm? That's fine." He spoke in his usual tone of false sweetness, he remained standing by the door.
"What are you doing in Fontaine? The Tsaritsa sent me to get the gnosis, you're not needed here."
"I have a small request to make of the House of Hearth. If their 'Father' would be so kind as to oblige, I would truly appreciate it." He bowed his head, but still stared at me.
"And what would this request of yours be?" I lifted the goblet to my lips again, waiting for him to speak.
"There's someone I'm looking for. You see, a while ago Pierro sent me on a mission to find this person, and I've gotten a general idea of their whereabouts. I just need a few keen spies to help me out a little."
"How come I've never heard of this mission? Aren't secret meetings prohibited if they're important? And this seems pretty important to me." I wiped my lips with a small black cloth, the edges embroidered with red swirling patterns, a white flower embroidered in the middle.
"It happened before you were with us" His smirk seemed to turn into a creepy grin, as though he found this news amusing.
"Hm. Well, what do I get in return for helping? No, instead, what do the kids get for helping?"
"We can discuss payment later, but I promise you'll be compensated."
It took me a few minutes to think this through. Nothing with Dottore involved ever ends well. But I accepted. With a firm handshake, I agreed to send a few of the children on a mission to help find the woman who Dottore described to me. After our handshake, he left.

A gentle knock was heard upon the door, and by the sound alone I could tell who's gentle hands made it.
"Come in, Freminet."
After the boy stood next to me, I turned to look at him. Freminet was one of the children who'd do anything you asked of him, he was nice. Too nice. I signaled for him to begin speaking.
"Father.. I think I found them.." He pulled a photo from his pocket, showing a gentle looking person locking a store.
"It would seem that way. Did you get their address?" I slid him a small piece of paper and a pen to write it down on if he did.
"Of course.." He quickly wrote down the information and took a few steps back.
"Thank you, Freminet. You did well. Dismissed."
He gently bowed and left.

Days were spent researching this person. Finding out all I could about their trial records, family and day to day life. But there was nothing I could find that would give them a reason to be wanted by Dottore, much less Pierro. Regardless, they caught my interest.
