There's a tension. One that only can be satisfied by eloquent words or thin, bloody lines.

The tension decides which on it is fixed by. And the fear is that it is not words. 

You don't want to fix the tension with permanent red lines fading to scars. No, you'd want the written words to fix it.  

But sometimes that isn't enough. 

So your notebook is full of words, and your wrists full of scars. 

Fighting the tension isn't easy.
