Stop Reading His Mind

Helping Keith to reach graduation had been Shiro's goal for the last three years. He knew that seeing him walk across that stage, despite how his life started out, there was nothing that would top it. Until Lance came along. Having his two boyfriends walk across the stage to receive their degrees, despite every challenge they had faced, quite easily won out.

Shiro was surrounded by his friends as the graduation proceeded. They gave the loudest celebrations to Lance and Keith when they each walked across. Who really helped boast the congrats was Lance's family a few rows in front of them. They made sure Keith wasn't left out of their proud cheering too.  Everyone had waited for the two graduates in the entrance walkway. It took a minute for the two of them to get through the crowd, but sure enough Keith and Lance came barreling towards them.

"Guys! We graduated!" Lance shouted as they reached them.

"Lance, careful with the leg!" Shiro laughed as the two came in for a hug, "But yes, you both graduated, and I couldn't be more proud of you," they held on for a moment longer before greeting everyone else.

There were lots of pictures; the McCain family making sure that there was a photo of them with Shiro and Keith, and one with everyone who had showed up to celebrate their boy. Shiro did a lot of asking around to make sure he could get the photos from everyone who took one. He wanted to savor this. But before he got caught up any further, he found Keith's hand, grabbing his attention.

"I think we should grab Lance and tell him," Shiro said in a low voice. Keith hesitated, what if it went wrong? Shiro leaned down and kissed the worry from his face. Everything had already worked out, and they would make sure it would continue to.

Getting to walk across the stage felt euphoric. Lance was one of only three omegas in his major. He would join them in being proof that how things used to be no longer applied. Anyone could reach their goals. He paused as he found himself starting to sound like a motivational poster. But finally reaching what he had worked so hard for, and getting to watch Keith graduate up close, was worth being cliche.

As the graduates were let go to find their families, Lance waited where people were filing out, trying to find Keith. It took a minute, but Keith had been looking for Lance too and their eyes met. The two started towards each other in the crowd. They managed to link hands and push through the other graduates to an open spot. Lance straightened Keith's cap before they crashed together in a hug.

"I loved seeing you walk across the stage, you did so amazing to get here," Keith tilted his head up to meet Lamce's loving gaze.

"I loved the sight too, you've worked hard and deserve the recognition. Though, I almost missed you in that crowd, my tiny Sugar Bear," A grin spread across Lance's face as Keith's turned a bit sour.

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up," Keith pushed himself up, and he wasn't even on his tippy toes, to kiss Lance, effectively shutting him up.

"Let's go find everyone else," Keith once again intertwined their figures and led the way out to the entrance.

Lance tried to make sure he got to everyone. He was running out of breath by the end of all the hugging and pictures and his leg was starting to hurt a bit when he stepped. He wouldn't trade it for the world though—this was his world. He leaned against the wall for a break before Shiro and Keith appeared again in front of him.

"Hey, handsomes," Lance's voice took on a sultry and playful tone.

"Hey beautiful, wanna follow us for a minute?" Keith flirted back, putting his hand out.
