"Morgan. Morgan. Open your eyes."

Ngh... My head hurts... It's ringing...

Slowly opening her eyes, Morgan found herself shrouded by darkness. The silent ringing in her head persisted, as did the strange pitch black that enveloped the young girl.

Why am I wearing my pyjamas? Where... Where am I?

Up. Down. Left. Right. Everywhere she looked was that inexplainable darkness, and all she could see was a small area around her. "Hello? Is anyone there...?" she called out, her voice a mere whisper against the void.

After a few seconds of silence, Morgan finally got a reply.

"It's me, Morgan." a familiar female voice called out from the shadows.

Morgan immediately recognised that voice. It was the voice of her mother. Soft, elegant, and warmly; she could not mistake for anyone else.

"M-Mom?!" she stuttered, her heart flickering with nervousness. "Where-Where are you?!"

She desperately looked around for any sign of her mother, but found none. To hear her mother's voice again was something Morgan had long prayed and wished for.

"Morgan, my dear," her mother's soothing voice echoed softly around her. "I'm here with you."

The girl's head gently began throbbing with confusion. "Mom? What's going on? Why can't I see you?!"

"...That doesn't matter."

Morgan's pulse sped up, as she was unable to make sense of the situation. "What do you mean?! Of course it does! I need to see you! I need to know that you're really here! I need to know you're with me! I... I need you..."

Her mother's voice remained eerily calm. "Morgan. Listen. You ĐØ₦'₮ need to see me to know that I'm here with you. Is my voice not enough?"

Despite her lingering doubts that gnawed away at the back of her mind, she allowed herself to slightly lean into the warmth of her mother's strange presence. She started to ignore any doubts she had in the back of her mind, as all she cared about was being able to hear her mother once again.

"Morgan... I've missed you so much..." the voice said to her from the dark. The tone, delicacy, and warmth were exactly how Morgan remembered.

"I-I've missed you too!" Morgan remarked, desperately figuring out what to say. Her mind was a scramble, thoughts flooding and swarming her head.

"I have been watching you from afar, my dear," the spectral echo said to her, its words embracing Morgan with comfort. "...And I am so ₱ⱤØɄĐ of the girl you have become..."

Morgan's heart was filled with pleasure and pride as her mother's words filled her with a sense of validation that she had been seeking all this time. "Thank you..." she whispered, her breath slightly quivering with happiness. "I... hope you'll keep being proud of me..."

"I'll always be, no matter what..."

A few tears welled in Morgan's eyes as she listened to her mother's soothing words. For the first time in a while, she felt at peace with herself. "I... I love you, Mom," she smiled, her voice choked with emotion. Being able to say that again put her at ease.
