Chapter 03

The next day
Miso POV
"He really said that?" Jieun huffed as I nodded my head silently.
"Then what did you say?" She laughed, placing a piece of gum in her mouth.
"I told him I'd think about it." I sighed and placed my phone down.
"Oh my gosh? Leaving THE Sim Jake with a maybe? The whole school's gonna go crazy when they find out." She laughed before blowing a bubble.
I laughed nervously as the door to the classroom swung open to reveal Jake himself.
"Speaking of the devil himself." Jieun laughed before getting up and heading back to her own seat.
I huffed and took out my phone to look busy.
"Hey! What's up?" Jake smiled as he sat by me.
"Oh hi!" I smiled back before turning to my phone.
"Oh so-" he was quickly cut off with our homeroom teacher, Mrs Nam, entering the classroom.
"Thank goodness!" I smiled as I put away my phone.

"Miso! Wait up!" I heard coming from behind me as I walked towards my locker.
"Miso!" The voice shouted again.
I ignored it and continued walking as I knew who the owner of the voice was.
"Hey!" He huffed, placing his hand on my shoulder.
I huffed before smiling.
"So, how about we-" He huffed.
"Sorry, I'm not interested." I briefly smiled before rushing off.

3rd person POV
Miso chucked her books in her locker before shutting it harshly, echoing a loud 'bang' in the hallway.
She groaned in frustration, the thought of Jake's uncomfortable presence making her cringe.
Although without a thought, that the boy was drop-dead gorgeous, she didn't know him long enough to be "hanging out" with him.

Jake POV
I huffed as I tossed my bag on the ground and flopped onto my bed.
"Are you out of your mind?" I huffed.
Just then, I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in!" I shouted.
The door slowly opened to reveal Chaesoo.
"Hey babe!" She exclaimed and walked in.
"Cut the act Chaesoo, you know I don't see you like that." I scoffed, pulling my phone out of my pocket.
"But I do." She laughed, throwing her purse onto the floor.
"Sure whatever, can you leave?" I huffed, opening the messenger app.
"Who is that?" Chaesoo asked, inching forward to look at my screen.
"No one." I huffed, putting my phone screen face down.
"I see, I'll get going then, remember about dinner tomorrow. There's gonna be paparazzi by the way." She huffed before walking out.

"Jake honey..." My mum started, slicing into her steak.
"What's up." I smiled, taking a sip of my water.
"We want you and Chaesoo to get married when your of legal age." She huffed.
"Marriage?" I scoffed.
"Yes, your father and I-" She stopped.
"But I'm 17?" I huffed, putting my utensils down.
"But we need the connections son, it was your mother's idea. But you don't have to I guess..." Dad chimed in before looking at my mother who was about to start speaking once more.
"It's not for choice." She whispered to dad.
"The merger is really important to us Jake, you have to understand that-" I cut her off.
"Understand what? That an opportunity like this comes once in a lifetime right?" I stood up.
"Yes but..." She stopped before turning to look at dad.
"But you only care about the money right?" I scoffed.
"It's not that Jake, we care about you too." Dad smiled.
"Well it's clearly not the case right now!" I said, raising my voice a little.
"Don't speak to us like that Jake!" My mother shouted, placing down her utensils.
I looked down for a while as tears started streaming down my face.
I quickly wiped them away and lifted my head.
"This is final Jake, no bargains." Mum said sternly.
"I don't even like Chaesoo!" I shouted before storming off to my room, leaving my parents at the table stunned.
I slammed the door behind me before flopping onto my bed.
I huffed and wiped my tears away, hoping that my parents would eventually make up their mind.
"I really need to get out of this soon..." I sighed.

Miso POV
"Hey Miso!" I heard as I shut my locker.
I turned to see Jake standing behind me.
"Oh hi..." I smiled.
"Sorry about yesterday, I guess I was being abit pushy..." He laughed.
I smiled.
"How sweet..." I thought, "Wait..."
I quickly snapped out of my train of thoughts.
"Don't worry about it!" I laughed awkwardly.
He was about to say something but was quickly interrupted by Chaesoo running up to him.
"Hey babe! I'm ready to go!" She laughed, clinging onto his arm.
He laughed awkwardly before saying his goodbyes and leaving.

Jake POV
"Sorry." I huffed before removing Chaesoo's arm from mine as we made our way to the school's parking lot.
"At 7, don't forget." She reminded briefly before walkinng towards the direction oh her car.

3rd person POV
Chaesoo quickly shut the door of her car and threw her bag on the passenger's seat.
As she grabbed the steering wheel, she couldn't help but start crying.
She had the guy of her dreams but yet he was all just for show.
She sobbed uncontrollably, the thought of him falling for another girl stuck in her head as she quickly drove off.

Jake POV
I waited at the restaurant for Chaesoo as the paparazzi started to show up.
I sighed and pulled out my phone to call her.
The line rang a few times before I heard a "hello" coming from the other end of the line.
"Hey love!" I exclaimed.
"What's up?" She huffed as I heard the sound of her heels clacking against the ground.
"Will you be here soon?" I asked, checking the time on my watch.
"Yeah, I'm walking out of the parking lot." She said as the frequency of her heels clacking quickened.
"Okay see you then." I smiled before hanging up.
I was browsing through the menu when I saw Chaesoo enter the restaurant.
"Hi!" She smiled, sitting down.
"Hey." I said breifly before putting the menu I was holding onto the table and sliding it across to her.
"Let's hurry this up please." I whispered before looking around at the paparazzi who were busy snapping photos.
She quickly acknowledged it with a nod as she browsed through the menu.

"So how was it?" Mum ask the moment I walked through the doors.
"Ok." I replied vaguely.
"What did you guys do?" Dad asked.
"Eat." I replied once more before quickly heading to my room.
I quickly changed out of my outfit into my pyjamas; a white t-shirt along with a pair of blue checkered sweatpants before putting on my glasses.
I sighed and got onto my bed, pulling the blanket until it covered my chest.
I took out my phone and opened the messenger app, hoping to finish what I wanted to say to Miso earlier in the day.

Miso POV
I was studying when I heard my phone chime.
I removed my glasses and took a peek to see that it was a message from Jake.

sorry for earlier😓

I stared at the message, confused at what he was sorry for.

What for?

I replied before my phone chimed once more.

For Chaesoo interrupting our conversation earlier.

I smiled.

Dont worry about it! No big deal.
But what did you want to say earlier?

Ahh... what i wanted to say was that i got abit excited to get to know you more especially because your my table mate HAHA

I laughed at the text before responding.

HAHA sounds like something i would do too

I huffed before placing down my phone to continue studying.

I tossed and turned in my bed, unable to sleep.
"Should I say something else? I mean he's being nice and stuff so..." I whispered.
"But he has a girlfriend, what if she thinks I'm making a move on her boyfriend?" I continued.
"Well technically I am but I feel so bad for ghosting him last time..." I huffed.
I hesitated for a while before quickly grabbing my phone from my bedside table and messaging Jake.
