Chapter 14

3rd person POV
As the days went by, Jake and Miso meticulously worked on the project, preparing a slideshow, scripts and even a miniature model.
Their relationship grew as the two spent more time together, taking the chance to learn more about each other as time went on.
And before they knew it, the day of their presentation had come.

Miso POV
"Can we go over it one more time?" I huffed, stressed.
"We've done enough love, I'm sure we'll be fine hmm?" He smiled reassuringly.
"Are you sure? It's apart of our final grade after all, I don't wanna-" I was quickly cut off with Jake placing a kiss on my forehead.
I blushed before clearing my throat and shutting my computer.
"Your wallpaper is cute by the way." He laughed as I scoffed.
The picture of us when he first met my family.
"Only cause you're on it...." I scoffed, placing my laptop into my bag as the bell rang.
"Oh we better get going then!" Jake exclaimed as we went back down to the classrooms.

"And that is all, thank you for listening!" I exclaimed as the class applauded.
"Impressive! Thank you!" Mr Cho smiled as I watched Jake fiddle with my computer.
I went up to him and watched as he closed the tab, exposing my wallpaper.
I gasped as he quickly unplugged the computer from the wire connecting to the projector.
I heard mummering coming from the class as I ran back to my seat, embarrassed.
I groaned as Jake went back to his seat while Mr Cho attempted to turn the attention back to him but to no avail.
We soon heard the bell ring and I quickly ran out of class with the rest of the class following closely behind, bombarding me with questions.
I ignored them and quickly ran off before anyone could catch up to me.

I cried as I watched the sun slowly go down, still unable to bring myself to face the situation.
I sighed and sat on a park bench cross legged, admiring the view.
It was then I heard footsteps coming not too far away from me and saw someone place a banana milk beside me along with a straw.
I looked up to see that it was none other than Jieun.
"Jieun-ah!" I cried as she pulled me into her embrace.
"Jake told me what happened, it's going to be okay, I'll beat everyone up for you hehe." She laughed, patting my back reassuringly.
We hugged for a while before we eventually pulled away.
"How did you find me?" I asked, wiping my tears as she poked the straw into the lid of the banana milk.
"I'd figure you'd be at a park, I just didn't know which one so I just went around." She laughed, handing it to me.
"Really? You did that for me?" I asked, sniffling.
"Of course! That's what best friends are for right?" She laughed, ruffling my hair.
I smiled as I sipped on the banana milk before leaning on her shoulder.
We admired the view for a while before we heard multiple fast paced footsteps coming closer.
"Miso oh my goodness!" Aureum huffed, panting.
"Are you okay? We were worried sick!" Hwayoung asked, pulling me into a hug.
"You weren't picking up your phone too!" Hanuel huffed, taking a seat on the bench.
I smiled as they all surrounded me while reassuring me.
But... where was Jake?
The person I wanted to hear from the most.

"Anyway, let's get you home yeah? I'm sure your dad is worried sick right now." Hanuel laughed as we all got up.
We strolled all the way back home, laughing and talking to get our minds away from the situation.
"Hehe and then she fell!!" Hanuel laughed, reminiscing about the time they had first met.
"Hey! I was nervous okay!"Aureum whined as we all laughed.
We soon arrived back to my place as they all bid me a goodbye.
"We love you!" Aureum exclaimed, making a heart with her hands.
"Call us if you need to okay? We'll always pick up." Jieun reminded as I nodded.
I smiled at the reassurance before making my way back into the house.
"Miso! Are you okay?" Grandma asked the second I passed through the door.
"We heard you ran out of school and left everything behind too." Dad huffed, pointing to my bag that was laying on the side of the couch.
"Sorry I made you guys worried, I'm okay now." I lied.
"Your boyfriend is an angel sweetie, he came all the way here just to return your bag and bought all your favourite foods." Grandpa laughed as I smiled.
So he DID care
"Anyways, did you eat yet?" Grandma asked as I nodded, lying once more.
"I ate on my way back, don't worry about me!" I smiled before walking to my room.
I sighed and flopped onto my bed, only to realise that my phone was left on the charger.
"Jake must have left it there..." I smiled, removing it from the charger.
I gasped upon seeing all the missed calls and texts from everyone.
"Geez, I was a little dramatic hmm?" I huffed, unlocking my phone.
I sighed as my phone started buzzing and I quickly picked up the call.

"Love! Are you okay? I was worried sick. Are you safe? Have you eaten? Do you feel okay? Do you want snacks? I'm really sorry! Did you get my snacks? Do you want me to come over? Do you-"
I quickly cut him off.
"I'm okay, can you come over?" I asked.
"Sure! I'll be there in 30, I'll bring some stuff over." He giggled.
"Sure! I'll see you." I smiled before he hung up.

Jake POV
"I'm staying over at a friend's for tonight! Bye!" I exclaimed, rushing out of the house.
I quickly hopped into my car, throwing my duffel bag into the passenger seat.
I quickly started up the car before driving off to Miso's place.

I soon arrived and rung the doorbell.
"Oh hey honey!" Her grandma smiled, letting me in.
"Glad you're here, I feel like Miso isn't telling me something, please comfort her okay?" She continued as I smiled.
"Of course I will, you can count on me!" I exclaimed before heading to Miso's room.
I knocked on the door before opening it, only to see the room empty.
"Miso?" I called out, shutting the door behind me.
"Love? You there?" I called out once more, putting my bag down.
I walked around the room and eventually knocked on her bathroom door.
It quickly opened, revealing her in a face mask.
"Hey love!" She smiled, pulling me into a bear hug.
"You're not mad?" I asked, pulling away.
"Why would I be? It was an honest mistake, I'm sure it'll die down anyway." She laughed as I smiled.
"That's good, you feeling okay?" I asked.
"I should be asking you! Aren't you worried about your mum and Chaesoo and everyone?" She nagged.
"Yeah, but I'm sure it'll be okay." I smiled, tucking a loose hair behind her ear.
"As long as we're in this together." I continued.
She nodded and smiled before noticing my duffel bag on the ground.
"Do you plan on sleeping over?" She laughed.
"Just incase." I laughed, letting go of her.

Chaesoo POV
"ARE YOU STUPID?? How could you mess this up so bad??" Dad shouted, pushing a vase off the table before running a hand through his hair.
I flinched at the sound of glass shattering, too afraid to say anything.
"What? You couldn't be too much of a good kid for once?" He huffed as mum shook her head.
"I'm disappointed Chaesoo, you should've done better." Mum sighed, walking off to her room.
"Your the worst mistake I've made." Dad let out.
"How could you just let some poor peasant scholarship kid take your place? Are you stupid or what?" He continued as tears streamed down my face as I remained silent.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you." He huffed as I quickly looked up to make eye contact with him.
"You better fix this or your out of here, got it?" He scoffed as I quickly nodded in response.
With that, he walked off and back to his room with mum trailing behind.
I waited for the sound of the door slamming shut before I finally burst into tears.
I just want my suffering to end...
