Greta nodded and smiled at her gratefully. "You and Alucard know each other?"
"Hm?" Selene hummed, casting a glance at the male dhampir looking at her intently. "Yes. Very well in fact."
Selene suddenly stopped walking and looked at a man who went to them. "You." She said with venom and the man froze.
"You know Saint Germain?" Greta asked with surprise as she went to stand in front of him, sensing Selene's dislike of the man. She may not like the eccentric man but she didn't want to watch Selene kill him.
"I do not, per say, know him." Selene replied, watching the man cower behind Greta. "I had the misfortune of waking up to find him trying to touch my face."
Greta saw Alucard's face display anger and he started to walk towards Saint Germain, only to be stopped by Selene's hand.
"It was a misunderstanding, my lady." Saint Germain said after seeing Alucard's glare directed at him. "I was surprised to find a beautiful lady asleep in the forest and I thought I was hallucinating. I apologize if I offended you."
"Forgiven. The short flight you got was punishment enough." Selene said with a smile and Alucard smirked.
Saint Germain chuckled awkwardly before trying to converse with Selene.
"You are Selene? Selene Laskaris?" He asked, making Selene and Alucard look at him.
"Yes, what of it?" Selene replied, warily.
"Selene Laskaris, former apprentice of Dracula in the mystique and dark arts, a celebrated mage prodigy." He recited making Greta look at the woman in surprise. "You are a dhampir like Alucard."
Selene didn't reply, her lips formed a tight line.
"We should start the relocation of the villagers." Alucard cut in seeing Selene's unease.
"Relocation?" Selene asked with curiosity.
"Alucard has generously allowed us to stay at his castle." Saint Germain said with a smile.
Selene looked at Alucard who shifted uncomfortably. Her gaze softened and Alucard saw this. Hope started to fill his heart.
Selene walked beside Alucard. She looked at him from the corner of her eye. She thought about how difficult it must be to welcome humans into the castle.
"Selene?" The male dhampir asked, making her look at him.
"Yes, Adrian?" She replied, raising a brow at him. If she was honest, her anger at him subsided and was thinking of how to approach him now that she was inevitably involved with him again.
"Will you be staying?" He asked and she looked at him.
"Should I be?" She asked him back and he sighed. She was not making this easy on him. After she left, he drowned himself in alcohol and had lashed out more on humans foolish enough to enter the castle.
All he wanted to do was hold her and show her how much he cherished her. He knew he hurt her and he wanted nothing else but for her to give him another chance.
"You should." He whispered and she didn't answer.
Selene listened to Greta explain how she and the villagers of Danseti can sense magic.
"You smell of it. He reeks of it." Greta looked at Selene. "She radiates it."
"Hm. What does it smell like to you?" Alucard asked Greta which made Selene look at her curiously.
"On you, it's sweet like spices. On him, it's rotten." She explained. "On Selene, it's like walking in a field of flowers that sends you at ease. Her magic is strong and is perfectly balanced within her."
