Y/n's first few days back at school were stressful. She had so much work to catch up on, and all of her classmates were pestering her with questions. She would explain away why she had been missing school, wanting to avoid the pity and sympathetic looks.
After she returned to school, Ai had cleared out an extra room in the apartment for Y/n. Y/n had protested, saying that she didn't want to take up too much space. Ai had just laughed it off and said that she'd need her own space to work. Even though Y/n had this new room, she still slept in Takashi's bed every night.
Y/n's afternoons were filled with homework and taking care of Luna and Mana. Takashi was often gone for hours after school, either with his friends or at handicraft club.
Y/n was surprised when he came home early on a random Tuesday in December. He burst into her room with a wild look on his face.
Y/n jumped at the sound of the door hitting the wall. She looked at him with wide eyes.
"Do you know Taiju, Hakkai's brother?" Takashi asked with urgency. "Hakkai said that Taiju used to talk about you a lot."
Y/n scoffed and said, "Unfortunately."
Takashi straightened up at her reaction. "What does that mean?"
"Um, well...." Y/n pinched the bridge of her nose. "We went to the same elementary school, and he had a big crush on me. I didn't like him because he was always beating everyone up."
He walked over and sat on her bed, disregarding the dirty clothes strewn across the floor. "Could you maybe... help me with him? I need to talk to him about some things and I figure he would come around easier if you were there."
Y/n groaned and said, "Why do you need to talk to him?"
"He's not letting Yuzuha and Hakkai be free. I'm gonna try to bargain with him. So can you please, please come with me and try to persuade him? If things get violent I'll protect you."
Y/n leaned back in her chair and turned to look at him. "I'm not worried about me being in danger. I just think Taiju is incredibly annoying." She sighed and rubbed her face. "But sure, I want to help Hakkai and Yuzuha."
Takashi smiled and grabbed her hand, rubbing it with his thumb. "Thank you."

Takashi, Y/n and Hakkai walked down the street in a row. Takemichi and Chifuyu followed closely behind. The silence was strained, and Hakkai kept his gaze on the ground nervously.
"Taka-chan," he said. Y/n and Takashi looked up at him. "Maybe it's not a good idea to meet with Taiju after all. Nothing you can say will get a good result out of him." Hakkai then said with a furrowed brow, "He's a piece of shit."
Takashi sighed and said, "Would you stop? You always try to handle everything by yourself."
Y/n nodded, agreeing. "Yeah Hakkai, we want to help you. So please let us, ok?" Hakkai blushed, shyly looking away.
Takashi cleared his throat and said, "By the way, why are they tagging along?" he jabs a thumb behind them, referencing Takamitchi and Chifuyu.
Y/n looks back at them. She hadn't fully noticed just how beat up Takemichi was. Takemichi looked confused. "What? I was there when it happened."
Y/n glanced at Takashi, confused. He hadn't mentioned anything about some conflict between Takemichi and Taiju.
Chifuyu pointed at Takemichi and said, "I'm keeping an eye on him. He's a moron, you see."
Takemichi whipped his head in Chifuyu's direction and yelped, "Hey! who you callin' a moron?!"
