The apartment was quiet. Everyone was asleep, everyone but Takashi and Y/n. The light from the streetlamps filtered in through the windows, casting long shadows on the wooden floors. Takashi sat in silence on the couch, his head in his hands. His face burned with embarrassment as he reflected on the interaction the two of them just had.
He stood abruptly, deciding to go apologize to her.
Meanwhile, Y/n stood with her back to her bedroom door, mind racing. Was he going to kiss her? If he was, then why the hell did she run away? She placed a hand on her cheek, feeling the warmth emanate from it.
Just then, she heard a soft knock on the door. She jumped away from it, as if she had been burned. Takashi spoke quietly, "Hey.. uh.. I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable..."
Y/n gulped and replied: "N-no, you didn't make me uncomfortable. I'm sorry I ran away.."
An awkward silence filled the air. Takashi stood in the hallway, hesitating. Finally, he spoke again, "Can I.. can I come in?"
Y/n opened the door for him, stepping back a couple feet away. Takashi stood in the hallway, hands stuffed in his pockets. He walked into the room slowly, keeping eye contact with her.
"Y/n..." he said softly.
Y/n smiled nervously at him. "Y-yes?"
Takashi walked around her, going to sit down on her bed. Y/n followed him with her gaze. He patted the spot next to him, inviting her to take a seat. She did. Painfully awkwardly.
Takashi looked at her with a serious expression. "I... have something to tell you."
Y/n nodded, gesturing for him to continue.
He looked away from her, seemingly steeling himself. "Well..."
Y/n looked at him expectantly. Takashi hesitated, and the awkwardness in the room only grew.
"I... you know I care for you, right?" Takashi asked, looking into her eyes.
"Yeah," Y/n smiled at him warmly. "And I care for you."
Takashi nodded, relaxing a bit. "That feeling.. the protectiveness and.. well the... the jealousy that I sometimes feel seeing you with other guys.. It's not like the care that I have for Draken, or Mikey, or any of my friends."
Y/n's eyes widened. She nodded, her mouth slightly agape.
"I-it's like," Takashi fumbled over his words. "You're something different to me. Something extremely special.. Like if I tried for the rest of my life I'd never find another person like you." He reached out, taking her hand and almost imperceptibly moving a bit closer to her. "Do you understand?"
"Well... I think I do. I feel the same way." Y/n looked down at their intertwined hands. "You're different.. Our relationship is different than any other relationship I've ever had."
Takashi nodded, smiling. Y/n looked up at him shyly.
She furrowed her brow before continuing. "It's like you're a.. a friend, but not. Like if you were to date another girl... I don't think I could take it. I... Takashi I want you all to myself."
Takashi's cheeks went beat red at her words, and he looked down at her with wide eyes. Y/n noticed his expression and started to ramble, waving her hands in front of her face. "No, well not like that! Like I.. I just.. you're just so special to m-"
Takashi silenced her with a kiss. It was short and a little awkward, but to Y/n it felt beautiful. When she closed her eyes, everything was purple.
Takashi pulled away. Y/n looked up at him, her eyes the size of saucers. He smiled down at her and cupped her cheek with his hand. "I've wanted to do that since we were little."
Despite herself, Y/n grinned widely. "Takashi... I.. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Takashi shook his head, still smiling. "Y/n, you are like an angel. An angel that I was lucky enough to meet." He leaned forward and kissed her head. "I have to go shower now, but I'll be back in less than 5 minutes, I swear."
Y/n pouted as she watched him stand and walk backwards out of her room, keeping his eyes on her the whole time. She giggled when he tripped over a stack of books on the floor. He chuckled softly and said, "You need to clean in here, it's hazardous." He smiled and walked into the bathroom. Y/n heard the shower turn on soon after.
She sat on the bed, staring at a spot on the wall in complete shock. A smile spread across her face, and she fell backwards, rolling around with glee.
She squealed softly, thinking about what Emma would say. It felt like a thousand little butterflies had hatched in her stomach. A thousand little lavender colored butterflies.
Y/n jumped up, reminding herself that she still needed to put on pajamas. She quickly pulled on some gym shorts and a large T-shirt before jumping back into the bed, sliding under the covers and waiting eagerly for Takashi.
He walked back in with wet hair, a towel draped over his bare shoulders. His shorts hung a little low on his hips, and Y/n blushed at the sight of his happy trail.
Takashi stretched, yawning. He flicked off the overhead lights, simultaneously throwing the towel on the floor. He tucked himself into bed next to her, turning on his side to look in her eyes.
"Hey, pretty girl," He whispered. Y/n giggled at the nickname.
"Hey, pretty boy," She mirrored.
Takashi pulled her into his bare chest, sighing contentedly. He smoothed her hair back and kissed her head.
He cleared his throat before speaking. "I-I'm sorry i didn't ask for your consent earlier. I will from now on." He leaned back to look at her. "Or, m-maybe you can just initiate things. The last thing I want to do is make you feel weird."
Y/n looked up at him, smiling softly. "I'll make sure to ask for consent too. I don't want to catch you off guard."
Takashi chuckled and said, "There's never really a time where I wouldn't want to kiss you. No need to ask, just kiss me when you want."
Y/n blushed before burying her face in his chest. "D-don't say stuff like that."
Takashi gently ruffled her hair, humming out a "Sorry."
Y/n sighed, her breath tickling his bare skin. She drifted off into a peaceful sleep, but Takashi stayed awake a little longer, wanting to savor this exact moment.
The two of them slept in each others embrace, their indirect confessions still on their minds.
Unbeknownst to them, this night is one of the last they will spend together for a long time. Somewhere across town, danger was brewing, bubbling to the surface and threatening to spill over.
