You heard the sound of beeping and people talking. You silently groaned, trying to open your eyes. You felt extremely tired and didn't feel like doing anything, but you managed to open your eyes slightly to see a blur. .
"Do not worry, everyone. It's going to be alright. Y/N is a strong... err, friend, and she'll make it," you heard Momo say. "How can we not worry, Momo? Y/N snapped, and we don't know if we have her back now! Or if she will wake up at all!" Kaminari cried out. "Well, don't make it worse by telling us that!" you heard Jiro zapping him.
"Fighting isn't going to make Y/n wake up!" you heard Izuku yell. "This is all my fault. If I hadn't attacked that Nomu, Y/N wouldn't have to come to rescue me, and wouldn't have to be here against her will. And she as hell wouldn't have to be here in a hostile environment struggling to survive while we shout at each other!" They all looked down, disappointed at themselves.
"So please, let's just hope that she's okay, because that's all we want. For her to be okay," you sighed slightly. You were also at fault for this. You had taken your new purple too softly. You knew that you were meant to do something big, but intermingling with humans wasn't your plan at all.
You felt that you were lying on your stomach on a soft nest. Many things were wrapped around you, some other things tapping at your skin. You hissed, but slowly and carefully, long claws scratched lightly at Uraraka's hand. She froze and looked at you. "Y-Y/N??" The others stopped and stared at you, who were fully opening your eyes, a flare of red greeting them. "Hey," you mumbled. "Y/N, you're okay!" they yelled. Izuku tried to hug you, but you were still in pain. "R-right, sorry," he mumbled, though still crying.
"Oh, Y/n, we thought you'd never wake up!" Kaminari cried out, while Jiro hit him.
In the midst of the tumultuous conflict, he bore the distinct, earthy scent of rosewood. It was an unexpected detail that you found yourself focusing on, your brow furrowing in consternation. This was not the observation you had intended to voice.
Kaminari, your companion, seemed equally taken aback by your comment. "Seriously? That's all you're going to say about him? He nearly incinerated your eyes! Aren't you terrified or infuriated?" His voice echoed loudly in the confined space, causing you to flinch. You were on the verge of snapping at him when Momo intervened. "Kaminari, she's still in shock. She hasn't fully comprehended what transpired yet!"
Uraraka, ever the peacemaker, chimed in, "Let's give her some space. Y/n needs rest and some quiet time to process everything." Despite their evident disappointment, they conceded, leaving you alone with Izuku. "Deku, come on!" Izuku gave you a lingering look before nodding in agreement and departing.
You were left alone, nestled in what could only be described as a nest. You reached up, your fingers brushing against the bandages that were tightly wrapped around your eyes and various other parts of your body that had been scorched by the fire.
Todoroki and I had battled fiercely. He had seared my eyes and nearly stripped me of my scales, you thought, tears welling up in your eyes. Why had everything spiraled so disastrously out of control? Why couldn't you have just perished at the bottom of the ocean or in the belly of that Mosasaurus?
You allowed your tears to cascade down your cheeks, the first time you had cried since your sister had perished under your claws. "I... don't want to be here," you confessed, your voice choked with sobs. You curled up into a ball, wrapping your arms around your face, burying your snout in them, and stayed there until you heard the sound of approaching footsteps. "Please go away. I don't want to harm anyone else."
"I'm afraid I can't do that. And don't worry, you won't harm us. That inner devil you have is long gone," Nezu's voice reassured you. Even though your eyes were bandaged, you could discern their outlines through scent.
