Performance #4: Knuckles

Jake then reached into the envelope and pulled out another name. "Oh, this is an interesting one." Jake said. "The next performance tonight. . . is Knuckles the Echidna."

The crowd cheered as Knuckles came up on the stage. And next to him, was a female mobian bat. Her name is Rouge. She is Knuckles' girlfriend.

"Oh, hey Rouge." Jake said. "I didn't think you'd be here."

"Well, Knucklehead wanted me to be a part of his performance." Rouge said. "So, here I am."

"Aww, is it a love song duet?" Melissa smiled.

"Well, not exactly." Knuckles said. "I just have a part for her in the lyrics. It's nothing too serious."

"Great. Let's hear it." Jake said. "Everyone, give it up for Knuckles and Rouge!"

Jake then headed backstage as the crowd cheered for the two lovers.

Music then began to play and Knuckles began to sing.

Knuckles: "Oh the weather outside
is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
Since we've no place to go

It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've brought some
corn for popping
The lights are turned down low

Rouge and Knuckles:
"Ooh wee goes the storm
Why should he worry when he's nice and warm
His girl by his side and the lights turned low

Knuckles: "I don't care!
The weather outside is frightful
But that fire is, hmm, delightful
Since we've no place to go

Knuckles: "When we've finally

When the song was over, the crowd cheered for the two of them.

"Heh. . . thank you everyone." Knuckles said, blushing a bit.

"Thanks for your time." Rouge was with a wink, blowing a kiss to the crowd.

"Wow. . . that was cool." Jake said. "No pun intended."

"Hmm. . . I'm no expert, but that sounded like a love song to me." Melissa said with a smirk.

Knuckles blushed harder when she said that.

"Oh, it definitely was." Rouge said with a smirk. "He's just trying to contact me to hide his feelings for me."

"You're batty. . ." Knuckles said.

"Well, it was a nice song." Jake said. "And you have quite the voice."

"I'll be going now." Knuckles said. "I'll be back when the winner is announced."

"So, we're about halfway through the show." Jake said. "What do you say we get some food?"

"That sounds good." Makayla said.

"I believe Mikan knows a really good chef." Jake said.

"Uh, yeah. . . I do." Mikan said. "He was my classmate."

"Wonderful." Jake said. "Let me make the announcement."

Jake then went to the stage, where everyone was cheering.

"Alright, everyone." Jake said. "It's about that part of the show where we take some time off. So, go have some fun during our halftime. We'll be back in maybe an hour."

The crowd all murmured in agreement as Jake went backstage.

"Alright, let's head inside." Jake said. "It's feast time."

"Heck yeah!" Makayla said. "I'm starving."

"Showbiz sure does make you hungry, huh?" Eda asked. "Let's go, kiddos."

"I'll call the chef." Mikan said.
