Chapter 8: The Curse

Today I was excited to meet my new colleague. Before that, I visited my family. Jason, who worked as a police officer in Seattle, called me and requested my help with a series of killings in the city. Initially, they suspected a vampire, but Jason now believed it could be a werewolf. I expressed my disbelief that a werewolf would be responsible for the murders.

I informed Jason that I would contact my father because if the murders were being committed by a werewolf, my father would have knowledge about it. I phoned my father and informed him about the string of killings in Seattle. I relayed Jason's belief that a werewolf was responsible for the murders.

"I don't think a werewolf or a vampire is behind these killings. King Charles doesn't survive on human blood, and King Victor isn't a mess. Werewolves are not permitted to harm humans!" King Edward responded angrily.

"I understand, Dad. I also don't believe that a werewolf or vampire is responsible for the murders. Jason wants me to assist him. Would you accompany me to Seattle to examine the body?" I inquired.

"I'll be on the earliest flight and will join you in Seattle. I need to resolve this issue about a werewolf being responsible for these murders!" King Edward responded with frustration. I headed to the airport and later arrived in Seattle, where my dad had not yet arrived. I secured two hotel rooms and rented a car for us. My dad arrived in Seattle two hours later, and I took him to the hotel to freshen up.

We visited the police station and observed Jason conversing with a man. "Hello, Jackson and King Edward, this is Alan Stewart. Alan is a doctor in San Francisco and used to work as a police officer in Seattle. He has assisted the police with numerous cases," Jason informed us.

Alan examined the body and concluded that the murders were not committed by a werewolf or a vampire.

"I treat animal attack victims, and this body does not show signs of an animal attack," Alan stated.

Jason then inquired if my dad could provide his opinion on who might have killed the person.

"I concur with Dr. Stewart. I informed my son that a werewolf is prohibited from killing a human. I am aware that King Charles does not feed on human blood, and King Victor is cautious and not causing trouble. If the murders are being committed by a werewolf, it must be a newly turned one. A newly turned werewolf is uncontrollable and unaware of their actions," King Edward replied.

"I believe it's unlikely that a werewolf or vampire is responsible for these murders. I suspect a human is the culprit," Alan responded.

"Why would anyone want to frame a werewolf or vampire?" I inquire.

"I'm not sure. I have psychic powers, but I can only use them when someone's eyes are open," Alan responded.

He mentioned that he used to be a police officer before he vanished, and when he returned, he had no memory of what happened. He came back at the same age as when he disappeared, not having aged a day. I was heading back to Mississippi, where my father was going to assist Jason and Alan with the murder cases.
