Chapter 17: Jane and David

Jane Anderson

I was still concerned about David and unsure of what to do, as he refused to communicate with me and became angry when I tried to talk to him. My brother Victor Anderson, who owns a law firm, was away helping King Henry deal with Loki, with assistance from King James. Meanwhile, I was working on a case involving my client Greg March, who was accused of murdering Jean Woods, a woman who had been renting a room from Greg and his wife Laura. The police also suspected Laura of involvement in the crime, but lacked evidence to arrest her.

I don't believe Greg or Laura are responsible for Jean's death. When I visited the crime scene, it appeared that Jean was killed by an animal. Eric Carmichael was assisting me with the investigation, and we had been working on the case all day. However, I started feeling tired and decided to head home since my apartment was nearby. As I walked, I sensed that someone was trailing me, but I tried to remain calm and not show any signs of panic. I didn't increase my pace or start running, as I didn't want the person following me to realize that I was aware of their presence. Eventually, I felt the person drawing closer, and when I turned around, I was shocked to see that it was a werewolf.

I became frozen with fear and couldn't move. I was too scared to run as the werewolf was growling and preparing to attack me. But then, someone pushed the werewolf out of the way - it was Eric who had come to my rescue. The werewolf tried to bite Eric, but King Edward and Jason also came out to help. Jason shot the werewolf in the leg, and it became scared and ran away.

"Are you okay?" Eric asked me.

"Yes, I am fine, just a little shaken up," I replied.

Jason and King Edward searched for the werewolf and found blood on the sidewalk, but I went back to my apartment and locked the door.

The following morning, I awoke in significant discomfort and noticed blood on my bed, which frightened me as I realized I had been shot. Despite not recalling the incident, I reached out to Jane for assistance, asking her to come to my apartment. Jane promptly agreed to come over.

Later, Jane hurried to my apartment and called out, "David, where are you?!"

I responded from my room, "I'm in my room!"

Jane quickly entered and asked, "What's wrong?!"

I cried out in pain, "I've been shot!"

Angrily, Jane inquired, "Who shot you?!"

I replied, "I don't remember. I woke up in a lot of pain and realized I had been shot. I've been blacking out and can't recall what happened during those hours."

Jane suggested, "We need to take you to the hospital!"

I refused angrily, "No, I don't want to go to the hospital!"

I was unsure of what to do, so I called my brother Henry and asked for his help.

I told him, "I'm at David's place and I need your assistance."

Henry agreed to come over immediately. When he arrived, he asked, "What's wrong?"

I explained, "David has been injured by a gunshot."

Henry suggested, "You should take him to the hospital."

I responded, "He doesn't want to go."

Henry then inquired, "Who shot him?"

I replied, "He doesn't remember. He had a blackout and can't recall the past few hours."

Henry agreed to help by treating David's leg.

Henry is a doctor. He extracted a bullet from David's leg and provided him with pain medication to alleviate his discomfort and aid in sleeping. When Henry questioned why David was reluctant to go to the hospital, I expressed my suspicion that he might be the werewolf sought by the police. Henry cautioned me that if David was indeed the werewolf, we needed to remove him from the premises, as Jason was conducting a DNA test on blood found at the scene. Subsequently, I woke David and hurried to New York, withdrawing money from the bank, with Henry accompanying us.
