Silenced

He woke up in the middle of the street. There was a chilling rain and his yellow fur was soaked. He hesitantly got up feeling a cold shiver as he moved. He got up and weakly walked to the sidewalk and leaned against a nearby sign for support. He coughed out and fell over losing his energy. He waited there for a few minutes collecting his thoughts. He looked back at the buildings which where collapsing and in ruin. He heard footsteps through the rain and heard distant unfamiliar voices. He ran into the ruins of a building and hid behind the wall as a light grew closer. "They say that the unlucky see the ghost of a fox here.. Roaming around the ruins every night..." A older male's voice taunted out. "Sonic... Don't freak her out.. Cream isn't a very big fan of scary things." An older female said sounding partially annoyed. "Let's just find the Chaos Emerald and leave quickly. It feels like we aren't alone..." Another male said in an serious tone. The yellow fox who was hidden in the building shifted slightly and the rain was too loud for him to be heard. He peeked around the corner and saw a group of four in the street. There was a blue hedgehog that was the color of lightning. A red Echidna that was just the right shade to make him feel jumpy. Another pink hedgehog who seemed slightly familiar in the way she spoke. And a Cream-Colored rabbit who seemed close to his age group. He found himself analyzing her the most. He felt unusually tense looking at her and recoiled as she seemed to sense his stare. She began to look around and didn't seem to notice him as he ducked under rubble. A few bent nails fell off a broken table as a tail brushed against it and he quickly ducked under it before listening back in. "I.. Heard something.." He heard a new girl's voice speak. "It's probably just something falling over." The older sounding girl said reassuringly. "I don't know.. It doesn't feel right.." The younger one insisted. "Alright... We'll go check it out... Sonic, Knuckles, you two go try to find the emerald.. I'll take Cream to.. Whatever she heard.." She said slightly muffled by the rain. "Alright! Bet I'll find that emerald first knux!" The first voice said before anything else was muffled by loud and fast footsteps heading away. He heard footsteps growing near and heard them separate. He ducked under a broken table in the corner and curled up and sealed his eyes shut.

Cream walked into the ruined building feeling slightly anxious. Amy went to check out another building and she was already on edge due to the ghost sightings Sonic apparently heard about. She didn't see anything in the building at first glance but quickly noticed a tail sticking out from under the table in the corner. She walked over growing partially concerned and ducked down to look under. Her eyes followed the tail into the shadows and noticed a dark silhouette against the wall. She made out pointy ears and what seemed like a second tail next to someone who seemed to be curled up. She slowly moved over to them and brushed what seemed to be their ear. She could feel a pair of eyes looking at her as their head raised and she continued to brush their ear. She noted how the both Tails began to curl up and the atmosphere seemed to change slightly. A flash of lightning threw her off and she found herself out from under the table with the figure she now recognized as a fox lying against her. She sat on the floor and he seemed to have been scared by the lightning. "Hey... It's Okay..." She said continuing to brush his ear. "Cream?.. Are you okay?.." She heard Amy call out. After thinking for a few moments she replied "I'm Fine!.. I'm just.. kinda being held up.." She replied trying to avoid moving. "Where are you?.. " Amy called out walking in. "Under the table over here!" She replied as the fox began to hide behind her. She scratched his ear causing him to pause. She Noticed Amy kneeling down to see to see under the table. "I guess Sonic wasn't completely wrong.."

Cream felt slightly uncomfortable as the fox stood closely against her as her and Amy walked to meet back up with Sonic and Knuckles. It wasn't because they where soaked from the rain. She was partially uncomfortable with how close he was to her. She seemed to be the only one he really trusted since he kept a distance from Amy but kept close to her. "Where are those two?.." Amy muttered as they walked through the rain. "Maybe they're a bit farther ahead?.." She said only partially concerned. She knew that it was pretty likely something bad was happening but they could always handle things before. She was mostly just curious about the Fox. He seemed like he wasn't like the mobians who where born with cases of mental underdevelopment or similar things, but he didn't talk so she wasn't sure about him. She paused for a moment getting an idea and held her hand out to him. He took it after a second and she got the impression that he was relatively normal besides how he didn't talk. He followed her and she felt a bit more comfortable even though it seemed awkward. She noticed the look on Amy's face and blushed slightly before looking down at the ground. "It's alright Cream.. You two are just so cute together..." She said making Cream feel a bit more awkward. She felt the Fox's grip tighten and tightened her own. "Thanks?.. I'm just.. Making sure we don't get separated in the rain.. " She explained unconvincingly. "Yeah sure... No close feelings at all... " Amy replied sarcastically. Cream grew a bright red blush but it quickly faded at the sound of familiar footsteps. She felt the fox hide behind her as Sonic and Knuckles came out of the bushes loudly. "Ow Ow Ow Ow.. Oww.." Sonic said pulling out a few thorns. Knuckles quietly pulled a few out of his gloves and noticed the fox immediately. A few seconds later Sonic noticed. "We split up for not even 10 minutes and somehow you've already made friends with a ghost?.." He asked Before pulling out a thorn from his ear. " I found him under one of the tables.." She explained not wanting to get into detail. " So he just immediately trusted you with his life huh?.." Sonic teased. "No... I guess it took a few minutes for him to trust me enough to follow me.." She said carefully choosing her words. "Alright.. We should get out of this rain first." He said looking back down the path over to the town. "Well?.." Amy asked. "Well what?.." Knuckles replied before Sonic could. "Did you find the Chaos Emerald?.." Amy asked annoyed. " No.. Just some junk and stuff.. Rouge said it was supposed to be there after spying on Eggman but maybe his machine was busted or something." He said annoyed again before pulling out another thorn. "Maybe it was underground?.. " Cream suggested. "Already checked.. Didn't find anything.."   Knuckles replied. "Well.. maybe we'll find something next time..." Cream said trying to cheer everyone up. "Let's head back.. I'm sure Vanilla is waiting for us back at Cream's house waiting to know if we're okay.." Amy said Changing the subject. Cream suddenly went red as she thought about how Mother might react to the fox. She thought for a bit until lightning stuck nearby again. The fox got a bit closer and she felt oddly comfortable. "We should go.." Cream said interrupting Amy who was speaking. "One second.."

Cream sat in her living room and the fox who she had personally nicknamed 'Tails'  was sleeping against her. He was up against her shoulder so she felt both awkward and comfortable. She noticed how his tails laid behind him as he slept. He looked cute and she wondered what he thought of her. After a few minutes she began to feel sleepy as the rain began to pick back up. Knuckles and Amy had already fallen asleep. Knuckles was on the couch and Amy was on floor lying on a blanket. Sonic went out for a run and Vanilla went to bed shortly after everyone had ate. She grew a slight blush remembering how Tails wouldn't sit anywhere that wasn't beside her during dinner and when they were finding out where everyone would sleep. Vanilla had seemed accepting of Tails but she wasn't too sure. The continued raining and Warmth from Tails finally kicked in and she began falling asleep. She suddenly felt something wrap around her and recognized it was his tail. She looked up at him and he brushed her head having woken up. She fell against him suddenly feeling worn out and she flickered her eyes a bit before falling asleep.
