2|The Boss's Amophrodite

As Mr. Loselle thought the question his gaze landed on the other baby swaddled in blue;his son.

The newborn lay unmoving in his cradle with his obsidian eyes staring up at his father, seemingly examining him but his face showed no expression.

"So serious for a baby, aren't you? You most obviously take after your old man,"

The man chuckled at his son's stone like facade.One that made others feel unworthy of looking at him, let alone  touching him.

Cold at such a young age.What are we to expect in the future?

The baby stared at him for a while longer before shutting his eyes with what Mr.Lavinge could imagine was a humph. This child was an exact replica of himself.

He once more looked at his wife's younger self before taking out his phone and dailing a number.

"Daniel, you deal with the Rummeigns. I'm not coming back."

His tone was drastically different from the one he had used on his son. Colder and even from the other side of the line, Daniel could feel its imposive nature weighing on him.

"But Shawn, this is a very important meeting. You have to be there"

The assistant tried to reason with his boss who kept on turning colder with ever word that was spouted.

"Shawn, I understand that your wife has just given birth but.."before he could go on, he was in interrupted by another wave of the dangerously cold voice.

"What your trying to say is that your too incompetent to handle something important?"

It sounded like a question but Daniel knew it was a threat. Self reproach immediately hit him.

What is wrong with you? Are stupid to disregard the boss' wife for a meeting?!

"No, not at all sir. I can handle everything with ease. You can stay beside your wife without a worry"

The frightened man was about to hang up before a thought popped in his mind.

"Hey, boss?"

"What is it?"

"What is the gender of the baby...I mean your baby"
Daniel half expected the man to hang up on his face but he was pleasantly surprised.

"A boy and a girl." Mr.Loselle stated disinterestedly, leaving the man on the other side as confused as a monkey.

"What?! It seems it's more serious than I thought. How unfortunate that the baby is an amophrodite!"

The boss on this side of the line felt like a headache was about to come on and just hung up on the worried assistant.

Daniel didn't take offence , considering the boss's 'situation'. The boss's secretary who was near him during the call looked at him with a curious expression on her face.

What was that all about She thought.

"Hey Daniel, what wrong with the boss? He won't be able to make it or something?"

"Yeah.... I'll take his place during the meeting. Something came up."
Daniel was still dumbfounded on his discovery.

The secretary was shellshocked at what she was hearing. Mr Loselle was seemed interested in meeting the Rummeigns' Scion, the mighty Ethan Rummeign.

"What exactly came up for our workaholic boss to drop the meeting to someone like you?" She mocked whilst repositioning the spectacles on her face which held a serious look.

"Okay, I'll tell you but I need you not to tell anyone.."He paused looking into her eyes for reassurance at which she just rolled her eyes.

"I'm no rat. Spit it out," she huffed in a breath. This man was unbelievable. Dating her but no giving her an ounce of trust. And how could the boss trust him over her. She couldn't help but feel her face turn green.

" That's what all rats say."
He jested much to Mayline's displeasure. The frown that was on her face deepened and her gaze sharpened.

"Okay don't be so cross, chill. So ummm... "He struggled but continued, not wanting to anger his girlfriend further,"the boss'wife just had an amophrodite baby."

Mayline was stunned. She blinked rapidly before asking in an eerily calm manner.

"What do you mean Dan?!" She failed to keep it calm though.

"Oh,okay. So you see, an amophrodite is a baby with......"

"I know what an amophrodite is you fool!" She said before smacking him in the head.

"Oww! I was just trying to be helpful. Why are you so harsh to your sweet boyfriend?" He questioned whilst rubbing his head wearing an irresistible pout.

Sweet but dumb! But I guess his looks make up for it.

Mayline secretly smirked at her thoughts before straightening her expression on remembering the matter at hand. She mulled over what Dan had just told her.
  
She just couldn't believe him. She had to dig deeper. She knew who she was dealing with.

"Okay, Dan. Tell me exactly what Mr.Loselle said."

"Well I asked him what the baby's gender is a he told me it was a boy and girl." He answered cluelessly.

Mayline felt like face palming herself.
Sometimes she thinks this man can't surprise her anymore and boom something like this happens.

He'd be hopeless without me.

She let out a deep sigh.

"What did Mr.Loselle tell you then?" She asked suddenly feeling tired.

"He hung up. I think he was too stressed about the amophrodite thing."

"No, I probably think he was thinking the same thing as I am." She said starting to feel a headache come on.

"What's that?"

That you are a hopeless case!

"Nothing. Umm... Dan. I think Mr. Loselle meant his wife had twins."

"............."

"............."

"Well, that actually makes more sense then." He said sheepishly a blush creeping up his face after realizing he was wrong.

"Aww.. you look like a cute tomato! Okay, let's get into the board room. The Rummeigns' Scion and the other shareholders have already entered."

Daniel took her hand and entwined her slender fingers with his before placing a kiss on it.

"Daniel, no contact please. It's unprofessional. We're getting late. Let's go."

Mayline knew how to separate her work life from her love life well.
A bit too well on Daniel's side.
Seeing her wear her professional face, he too switched from playful to cold.

He startled even Mayline who tried time and time again to get herself used to this side of him but failed so miserable.

With that, they both walked throughout the doors of the board room confidence and even pride in each of their steps.

Wow don with my second. I'm really enjoying writing this book and I know my fan base will grow. Just writing this to say I told you so in the future when you guys are many. Just kidding...(no am not) or am I .

Anyways delivered as promised though not on the promised date but better late than never right.
