Fated,Aren't We?

Regina's POV

It couldn't be.

No, Regina. You're probably imagining things right now . Just stressed out about the crown princess.

"If only I could read your mind. I'm guessing by how much I know you that your trying to tell yourself that I'm a figment of your imagination."

I froze in place. The voice sounded so real. Exactly as I remembered. Alluring, arrogant and charming at the same time.

I hate that I think of it like that.

I slowly turned pivoted, eyes shut and praying to the goddess that it wasn't him.

"Open those peepers Regi. There's no way you can imagine someone like me," he taunted and I could hear the smirk in his voice.

"Darn, right."

I opened my eyes to meet his brown swirling chocolate eyes staring directly in my own.

"Ricardo. I would say your welcome but then I would be lying."

He laughed, his beautiful laughter bouncing off the walls of the huge room.

Thank goodness he can't hear my thought. Can you imagine how humongous his already huge ego would grow?

"Dear Regi, always defensive aren't you? You're absolutely adorable. No wonder am never bored around you."

I rolled my blue orbs.

" Stop calling me that."

"Oh you know you love it Regi"

I clenched my fists as I tried not to think any negative emotion towards one of the cockiest demons I've ever met.

He raised his perfect crescent brows as he took notice of my irritation.

"You seem really cranky. Must have been the long sleep, huh?"

I ignored his comment and asked him the only question that floated in my mind.

"Why are you here Ricardo?"

"Wow. As straight forward as always. Well what's it to you?"he asked as he took a step forward and towering over me.

I couldn't breathe as he's proximity made me uncomfortable. Hasn't this guy ever heard of personal space?

Taking a step back. I put a one arm distance between.

"It has everything to do with me as I am the assigned protector to the crown princess. It troubles me that you came directly to her highness's room."

He moved away from me, a slow smirk playing on his lips  towards one of the cribs.

I was alert with each movement he made and prepared to attack.
Ricardo is a seemingly very playful demon but had great power in his body, great evil too. He's good looks are as I said before.

All an illusion.

He traced his index finger on the ebony wood of the crib before he stopped suddenly.

"What if I told you I am here for the exact reason," came his smooth voice.

I was thoroughly confused now. How could he be here for the same reason.

I refocused on him and noticed he was at the male human child's crib.

Slowly everything came into place as the gears in my brain started turning.

If I am here for the crown princess, could it be that he was here for the boy?
Could it be that the boy is the crown prince of the demons?

"A striking resemblance indeed." He said as he examined the baby's facial features.
I broke from my train of thought.

"Regi, you haven't had the honour of meeting the former crown prince yet have you. Well if you are interested, his offspring bears the exact features as he. Come and take a look"

I stayed rooted in place , looking at his extended arm.
Just when I thought peace would prevail after the long slumber, this demon is thrown my way.

"I know I am devastatingly handsome Regi, but you should remember it is rude to stare."

"You're mistaken."

"Sure. I very much believe you," he answered with sarcasm clear in his voice and winked at me.

I could swear my stomach churned. He actually had the opposite effect that he intended. I felt sick.
Hopefully I wasn't green in the face.

"Don't you believe we are meant to be?" He asked in wonder with pursed lips.

"Huh?"

"I mean we just woke up and have already reunited. We are fated, aren't we?"

"Stop it, your making my stomach sick." I said gagging jokingly.

"Oh really?" He said moving towards me from the crib.

I moved backwards and he continued towards me till my back hit the wall.
My breath hitched as his face drew closer to mine.

"You know it's true Regi. That's why your not breathing now that I am this close to you."

I snorted. Oh no, that's unfairylike of me. Who does this guy think he is?

Putting my palms against his braod chest, I harshly pushed him back.

"You misunderstood once more Ricardo. I merely couldn't stand the stench that escaped your mouth. That century long sleep has surely dealt you a great blow."

He inhaled sharply, turned and I could guess he was checking his breath.

I had to bite my tongue to stop from bursting out in laugher. He was quite easy to fool.

I walked to my princess's crib and clutched her soft small hands in my own.

"Hello dear princess, I am your protector Regina. I will always be with you and I swear to protect you with all my life."

I heard Ricardo scoff and turned to sharply to him. He raised his hands in denial and shrugged.

He then moved to the demon prince's crib and sat at it's edge. What was he up to?

"Look here your highness. I am your protector yes, but I wouldn't trust me if I were you. All am saying is if you will repay me in future I will be as loyal as I can to you. Deal?"

The baby's inklike lashes flattered as his bright blue orbs opened. He coldly looked at Ricardo before shutting his eyes once more.

I like the crown demon prince already. I could see Ricardo was spooked and anyone who could do that is on my good side.

"I'll take that as a yes then," he nervously swallowed.

At that moment. The doors were opened and our heads snapped towards them.

Looking as beautiful as ever, stood the former crown princess in the embrace of a deathly handsome man. He bore the features of the baby boy so I could only correctly deduce that he was the former crown prince.

Their eyes landed on us and rounded in surprise.

"Ricardo?"

"Regina?"
