Aria woke up to find Carter in the library, and as he backed away, he casually asked, "Good nap?" Aria, fixing her position, retorted, "You're late."
Carter, searching for an excuse, began, "Yeah, I know. It's just something happened, and I couldn't get—"
Aria cut him off, demanding, "Then why didn't you tell me you were going to be late?"
Carter, still caressing his hair, replied, "You hate me so much; you didn't even tell me your name or your number." Aria turned her head away, not looking at him.
Carter continued, "You just left the class," throwing the completed project file at her face, saying, "Here, I finished my half."
Aria caught the file, surprised, and asked, "How did you?"
Carter grinned, grabbed the book, and said, "I have the book, remember?" Aria swiftly grabbed the book, surprising Carter, who struggled but failed to prevent her from taking it. As they tussled, the book slipping from Carter's hands, they both began to fall to the ground.
"Whoa," Carter exclaimed as they landed, but Aria ended up on top of him. Carter instinctively held her waist to steady them both. In that unexpected moment, their eyes met, creating a pause filled with unspoken tension.
