In the next day, Carter surprised Ali by arriving on time. Ali, fixing her glasses, remarked, "Woah, you're actually early this time." Carter, leaning on the door frame, replied, "Be glad that I've showed up."
Ali chuckled, saying, "Like this wasn't your idea." Carter retorted with a dismissive "Whatever." Ali, playfully spinning in her chair, teased, "Makes me think like you miss me."
Carter, nonchalantly taking off his jacket, responded, "Don't be delusional." Ali, now facing him, noticed he pointed at the Rubik's cubes on her desk. Confused, she asked, "What? The Rubik's cube?" Meanwhile, Carter seized the opportunity to lean in, causing Ali to gasp. As he reached for the Rubik's cube, Ali accidentally grabbed his tie, and their eyes locked.
"What's so nerdy about this?" Ali inquired, still holding his tie. Carter, composed, replied, "Nothing," as he fixed his necktie.
Three hours later, Ali found solace in ranting to her best friend, Avery. "I don't get why he flirts with me, and then if I flirt back, he becomes cold and awkward. What am I supposed to do?" Ali complained while playing with the Rubik's cube.
Avery, looking at her phone, glanced at Ali and suggested, "Isn't that how you know he likes you?" They exchanged smiles, and Avery playfully threw a pillow at Ali, adding a lighthearted touch to their conversation.
