The next day, Ali poured her heart out to Avery, explaining everything that happened with Carter. Holding a slightly damp pillow, she lamented, "I-I don't know what I did wrong." Avery reassured her, saying, "I don't think you did everything wrong." Ali, shaking her head, asked, "Then why?"

On Carter's side, he confided in his gamer friend, Damon, about the struggles he had been facing. When Damon asked, "So do you like her?" Carter, focused on the game, dismissed it with, "Shut up, we're losing." Damon persisted, saying, "I'm not talking about the game; you're losing her." Carter, deep in thought, took off one headphone, and Damon urged him, "I know you can still hear me. Call her."

Reluctantly, Carter dialed Ali's number. On the other end, Ali heard her phone ring, glanced at Avery, who shook her head, signaling not to answer. The room hung in tension as Ali deliberated whether to pick up or let it go to voicemail.
