CHAPTER 1
Nathan’s eyes snapped open and he shot up out of bed
He had a cold sweat on his forehead and was shaking
It had been almost three years since the incident that had happened with his girlfriend
After that night, Nathan had no choice but to leave his beautiful girlfriend there, alone, stranded. He had mourned over her for years until he finally decided to let her go and move on.
He hadn’t returned to the house after that night and he had yet to do so. After he had left Amarah at the house he immediately went to the police who had searched the house but found no body and no trace of either of them being there.
After that, Amarah VanPell was declared missing and her case was closed. The police had assumed somebody had kidnapped Amarah and they had searched everywhere and found not a thing. However, Nathan was the only one who knew this was not true. That night, something had happened to Amarah. Something dark had taken Amarah and he would never, as long as he lived, forgive himself for bringing this upon her.
Amarah’s parents were also hurt but not as heartbroken as Nathan was
Her parents had mourned for years and were still in mourning to this day. They were never told the reason Amarah went into the house, nor that Nathan had gone with her. All they knew was what the police had told them. She had been convicted
This was not true
The case of Amarah was closed nearly two years ago and neither Nathan or her parents had been the same since
Amarah’s parents had isolated themselves from everyone else and had never spoken to anyone ever again
Nathan however, mourned for two years before he finally decided to let Amarah go. It had been almost three years since the two seventeen year olds ventured into the house and Nathan, now twenty one, had gotten the nerve to let her go even as painful as it was.
Ever since Nathan had started dating a new girl, Jane, three months ago, he had been having the same dream of the night Amarah disappeared. He had been waking up shaking and in a cold sweat almost every night since. Of course he had convinced himself he was over Amarah and he really cared for Jane, it was just, ever since he started dating her, he had been thinking more and more about Amarah. Her long brown hair, her sparkling hazel eyes…just thinking of Amarah’s eyes gave Nathan the creeps. Every time he would picture her face he would see those frightening white eyes.
Nathan wiped his brow and got out of his bed
He walked to his bathroom and splashed cold water over his face
He looked at himself in the mirror
His shaggy brown hair illuminated his brown eyes as he stared at himself in utter disgust
How could he do this to Amarah? If only he hadn’t been so stubborn as to actually let Amarah go into the house everything would be ok and Amarah would still be here with him…
How Nathan longed to have Amarah back by his side.
He never stopped caring about Amarah but he hoped by having a new girl by his side he would forget. All Nathan wanted to do was forget about Amarah so he wouldn’t have to suffer and feel pain anymore
Nathan walked back into his room and lied back on his bed staring at the ceiling with his hands folded over his chest. He tried to focus on Jane.
Her beautiful hair…almost as silky as Amarah’s
Her glowing face…almost as amazing as Amarah’s
Her curvy body…almost as radiant as Amarah
Everything about Jane reminded Nathan of Amarah. Maybe that was why he picked her in the first place.
She was the closest thing to Amarah Nathan had
He closed his eyes but every time his eyelids closed he saw the glistening white of Amarha’s eyes
He repeatedly open and closed his eyes but sleep never came like he hoped it too
Instead he was haunted of the memories of the horrible fate he had brought onto his past love
