CHAPTER 5

Nathan woke up with an uneasy feeling in his stomach. He had been having dreams about Amarah again

He closed his eyes and ran his hands over his face.

All he wanted to do was forget about Amarah. Forget about all of those horrible memories. Forget about what a horrible person he was for doing this to her.

All he wanted was to forget the past

But could he?

Maybe tonight would be the night he would get together with Jane. Maybe that would make him forget.

He was sure it would considering he had never even thought about going that far with anyone except Amarah. Maybe if he put all of those emotions into Jane he would finally forget about Amarah. But could he feel for Jane that way? It was worth a try

Nathan got out of bed and got dressed for the day thankful he didn’t have to go to work.

It had been almost two weeks since Nathan went back into the house and he had no intentions of ever doing it again.

Not if it brought up that many painful memories.

The whole day Nathan just walked around his house, cleaning, doing laundry and other household chores. He decided to invite Jane over to dinner and try to explain what he wanted to do.

He dialed Jane’s number and it rang a few times before she answered

“Hello?”

“Hey” said Nathan

“Oh! Hey Nathan. You sound like you’re in a good mood”

“Yeah, sort of”

“So what is it you want?”

“I was wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner”

“Sure, I’d love to”

“Great then I’ll see you at eight?”

“Sounds good. Bye”

Nathan snapped his phone shut and went to get dinner started

Two hours later the doorbell rang

Nathan answered it and found Jane standing there in a short strapless summer dress

He smiled. She really did look good

Jane blushed and walked into the house

“Hey” she said and kissed his cheek

Nathan smiled and grabbed Jane’s waist, pulling her towards him. Jane got caught off guard and gave out a little squeal.

Nathan smiled wider. “I think I deserve more than that”

Jane gave a suspicious smile. “Ok, you really seem in a good mood. What happened?”

“Nothing. I’m just in a better mood today. Not as many things on my mind, you know?”

“Well alright then” Jane said and gave him a playful look. She tried to get out of his grasp which just made Nathan’s grip on her waist tighten

“Hey, I never got my kiss”

Jane smiled mischievously. “Well you’re not going to get one!”

She broke out of Nathan grasp and ran down the hall

Nathan rolled his eyes and chased after her
