Nathan trudged back to his house in the middle of the night. It had to be about three in the morning
Nathan was tired, confused, naked, although still wearing Jane’s jacket, and all he wanted to do was get home…but Jane was probably still there…unless she had left
Nathan would just have to wait and see
He was almost home, just a few more blocks
Nathan got to his front door at four AM
He pushed on it and it opened
Nathan trudged up to his bedroom and pushed the door open, barley able to keep his eyes open
He scanned his room and saw a lump lying in his bed
Jane was still here
Nathan knew what he had to do. He could never forget Amarah, he still loved her
He had to get rid of Jane
He first went to his dresser and slipped on a pair of pajama pants. He put the jacket Amarah had given him in his closet
Then, Nathan crept up to the side of his bed Jane was sleeping on and lightly touched her shoulder
Jane shot up and stared at Nathan horrified
Her eyes widened and she scooted away from Nathan
Nathan reached his hand out to Jane
“Jane, babe, it’s me, Nathan. I’m not going to hurt you”
Jane still looked frightened but scooted back towards Nathan
“W-what happened?” she asked in a shaky voice
Nathan sat down next to Jane and pulled her close
Jane shook in his arms and Nathan couldn’t help but feel guilty he was going to get rid of her
“Why don’t I start by telling you about what happened to me three years ago?” offered Nathan
Jane nodded and Nathan proceeded to tell Jane everything that had happened to him in the past three years.
All about Amarah and what happened to her, from how depressed he was, to meeting Jane. To what happened the night before. Everything
After he was done, Jane pulled away from him
“So you mean all of the times you seemed sad or angry, it was all about Amarah?”
Nathan nodded
“And you were only going to sleep with me to forget about her?”
Nathan hesitated before he nodded
“And you want to find out what happened to Amarah?”
Nathan nodded
“Ok then”
Nathan looked confused. “Ok?”
“Yes, ok. I’ll help you however I can. I’ll be with you there through it all” Jane said and wrapped her arms around his torso
Nathan sighed. He had a bad feeling Jane was going to be like this
“Well, the thing is…” said Nathan while pulling Jane off him. “I still love her and…we can’t be together. I still love Amarah, Jane and I need to know what happened to her. And I can’t do that is I’m with you. I can’t betray Amarah more than I already have”
Jane looked slightly angry
“Nathan, she doesn’t love you back. She’s a possessed person or something!”
“No Jane, that’s the thing, she was talking to me earlier. I don’t know how but she was. She still thinks it’s three years ago and nothing ever happened. She still thinks we went into that house right after we almost…”
“She can’t love you Nathan” said Jane with a straight face
“Maybe not” said Nathan. “But I love her and I have a feeling she loves me back. I will figure out what happened to her if it’s the last thing I do”
Jane looked really angry by now
“Well fine then!” she shouted and got out of Nathan’s bed. “Take the freaky ghost girl over me, I don’t care!”
“Wait, hold on” Nathan said calmly as he stood up. he folder his arms over his chest “You can do one of two things Jane. You can be a bitch and walk out of here like a five year old who just won’t listen. Or, you can listen to my reasoning , I’ll say I’m sorry it had to happen like this, and we can still be friends”
Jane looked Nathan up and down before narrowing her eyes and walking out of the door
A few minutes later, Nathan heard Jane’s car pull out of his driveway
Nathan sighed and ran his hands through his hair. He really thought Jane was a different person
If she was really acting like this then she wasn’t worth it.
Amarah was
