CHAPTER 2
Nathan had a long sleepless night
When it was finally time to wake, he departed his bed gloomily as he trudged to the bathroom to shower
A while later, he was dressed and ready for work.
He grabbed his keys off his dresser and heard the doorbell ring
He grabbed his walled and jogged down the stairs of his apartment to answer the door
He opened the door
On the other side was Jane looking as beautiful as ever
Nathan smiled but Jane looked concerned
“Hey babe” Nathan said and pulled her close kissing her on the lips to try and distract himself from the thoughts of Amarah flowing through his head
Jane pulled away and looked at Nathan concerned
“What are you doing here?” asked Nathan trying not to sound too unhappy
“I wanted to see my boyfriend silly” said Jane
Just hearing Jane say the word boyfriend to Nathan describing him, sent shivers down his spine. No one would ever mean the same to him as Amarah did
“Oh” was all Nathan said
Jane looked at Nathan’s face. He had bags under his eyes from lack of sleep and probably looked like he was depressed. In truth he wasn’t although he had been for the longest time, but he had finally broken out of his own spell
“Horrible I know” Nathan said and grimaced
“Rough night?” asked Jane running her fingers over Nathan’s shirted chest
Nathan nodded. “Yeah.”
Although Jane was his girlfriend he never told her anything about Amarah or the dreams he had been having. He couldn’t bear to tell anyone because of the pain it brought to him
All Jane knew was that Nathan had a very stressful life and that his past wasn’t exactly the happiest. She was a very understanding person, as Amarah was, so she understood Nathan and was patient with him
“I’m sorry” he said and stood on her tip toes and reach Nathan’s height. “Want me to make it better?”
The one thing Nathan never liked about Jane was she was always after one thing. She was kind, caring, and patient but when she wanted to sleep with a guy she never stopped till she got what she wanted. Maybe that was just what Nathan needed, to sleep with Jane. Maybe that would take his mind off Amarah for good
Then again Nathan never looked at another girl the same way as he did Amarah. He never felt the same need and longing for anyone else, not even Jane
Nathan looked down and shook his head. “No, not now. I really need to get going, I’m going to be late”
“Alright” said Jane trying to sound sexy. “But if you get lonely I’m just a phone call away”
Jane pulled away from Nathan and winked at him
Nathan gave her a weak smile and brought her back to him. He guided her hands around his neck and she smiled seductively
“I have a few minutes before work” said Nathan as he leaned closer to his new girlfriend
Jane couldn’t take it anymore and pushed her lips forcefully against Nathan’s
She moaned as she pushed Nathan back into his house and up against a wall but Nathan stayed quiet as he kept his hands on her waist and let her do all the work
Jane started trying to take off Nathan’s clothes but he grabbed her hands before she could
He shook his head
“I have to go to work now”
Jane pouted. “Fine. But call me afterwards”
“I will” Nathan said with a smile on his face. Not a forced smile but a real smile
Nathan realized it felt good to be happy again
“Bye” Jane said as she walked out of Nathan’s apartment making sure to sway her hips as she did
Nathan smiled as he locked the door to his apartment and got into his car
He drove to his morning job and just thought the whole way
He thought about things like Amarah and how they never found her body.
He thought about things like Jane and how she seemed to make him happy
He thought about sleeping with Jane and maybe finally getting Amarah out of his mind for good
He closed his eyes and wondered about Amarah. What actually happened to her? Was she still in that house? Was she dead? Nathan desperately wanted to know the answers to these questions and he knew there was only one way to find out.
He had to find out for himself
He had to go back into the house
