My brother ended up carrying me home since I got tired and when we got to the front door I pretended to be asleep, I hate Joanne. I don't know how Maya even lived with her, she's awful. "Jacob! Did you find-" My dad shouted. I heard footsteps run up to me, "Is she..."Tyler began to ask. Jacob laughed, "No, dad. She's fine, she just fell asleep" my brother reassures my dad. "Where's mum?" Jacob asked before laying me down on the sofa. My father sat next to me and placed his warm hand on my cold cheekbone, it feels like my face just got back its colour.
"Joanne went to the police" my father replied. She went to the Police for me?
"I should probably call her now, watch your sister for me Jacob" father said before getting off the couch and walking away. I peaked through one eye and Jacob laughed before collapsing next to me. "Oh shush" I groaned before laughing myself. Jacob placed his hand on my head and messed it up. "Your hair is soaked" he complained, I laughed and pushed his hand off me, "So is yours!" I laugh. He opens his mouth but before he can say anything there's a knock at the door. "It's mum, quick! Fall asleep again" he teased, I punched his arm and laughed.
He ran up to the door as I shut my eyes, hoping I would drift off. I heard the door unlock and open but that's not mum. I know it's not. "Is she here?" Marcus said, panic in his voice. I shoot my eyes open and he's trying to push past Jacob. "You should leave" my brother said in a serious tone. He's normally fun and immature, he must have something against Marcus. What did he do to Maya.
"Look, I know you don't like me but-" I cut Marcus off when I made myself viewable from outside. "Nova!" He hollered. Marcus shoved my brother to the side and ran to me, he wrapped his arms around my waist and placed our foreheads together. The earthy rain fell onto me, dampening my shirt, again. "Marcus, please" I whimpered, struggling to set myself free.
My brother sprints to us, slams a hand on Jacob's shoulder and twists him around. "Her names Maya, did you get that confused with one of your other little cheerleaders?!" my brother screeched, furiously. Oh, so he cheated on me? Great. I push him off me, "You- cheated on me?" I ask, now I'm furious. "Do you think I'm faking this? Do you think this is some sort of game? Well no. It's not, Marcus. I am stuck in someone else's body and you're here to mess about with me?!" I scream. Jacob has calmed down and now he's staring at me, confused and concerned.
"No, Nova. I cheated on Maya, you're not her. You never will be. I know this is not a game, Nova. I will help you" Marcus explained. But I'm not buying it. He's only here because I remind him of Maya and I won't be doing anything other than going home. "You can help me by leaving" I insist but he looks heartbroken. "I can show you where the door is" Jacob said through his teeth which made me smirk. "Nova. Please" He pleaded. And that, made me decide. I looked at him, he looked honest but I don't know if I can trust him. "Promise?" I asked, sticking out my pinky. He smiled, relieved and stuck out his pinky and wrapped it around mine. "I promise"
