"Tell me about him" Alex demanded whilst he folded clothes. I glance up at him, his chestnut brown hair messy, like he's just rolled out of bed. I immediately look back down to my book when his dark blue eyes overwhelm me. I clear my throat, "Who?" I ask, looking at him through the corner of my eye. He slams his shirt down and leans on the closet. "Marcus" He said, his voice as cold as ice.

I shrug, I hate talking about him. "He's really physical, like clingy and always wants be attached to you" I groan, images flashing in my head. Alex stands there, crosses his arms and comprehends what I've just said.

"Is he- dangerous?" He hesitates, scratching his arm. I let out a laugh, I don't mean to but Marcus, scary? I don't think so. "The opposite" I finally reply before skimming the page of the book. Nova's fiancé nods before beckoning me over to him. I slowly rise from my chair and hesitantly walk towards him.

He disappears into an office and I follow him, throwing myself into the chair opposite him. It feels like an interview, the organisation, the atmosphere, the tension. I open my mouth but before I can speak, Alex turns a photo around, a photo of Nova.

I raise my eyebrow and stare into his eyes. "Stare at the photo and repeat after me" He commands. I nod and stare at Nova, she looks beautiful. "Present the eyes of my past in the present" Alex says, clearly. I hold my stare at the photograph.

"Present the eyes of my past in the present" I say. As soon as I finish the sentence I see Marcus reaching to touch me, voices are muffled as he smiles then laughs. And then Alex appears in my view again, leant over the desk, begging for an answer.

But I can't believe it. He must know Nova is not me.

"He-He's touching her" I mutter. Alex settles back in his chair, furious and betrayed. I stand up and shake my head. "Alex, Marcus would force her to do this. Nova did not do anything, she was just there. I swear" I cry, panic in my voice. Because there's no way in hell I'm letting Marcus ruin their engagement.

A sense of hope flashes into his eyes and I give him a reassuring smile. He nods as he scratches his arm again. I want to leap at him and shake some sense into him, but I don't. Instead I frown at him, causing him to look away and stare at his shoes. I'm hoping he's thinking about what I've just said.

I stand up and go to walk out when I get shoved to the floor, I try to silence my screech as I come crashing down on the floor. "MAYA!" Nova's fiancé hollers as I jumps at me, cautiously sitting me up. "W-what happened?" I pant. Alex stares at me, then. As if a lightbulb had just clicked above his head, his eyes widen, veins pop out of his forehead and his knuckles go white.

"He pushed her."He states, veins building up in his hands as my mouth hits the floor.

Is she ok?
