"Nova, open the door. It's been two weeks!" He screams banging at the door. Two weeks, two weeks of being stuck in this room, rotting away. "For the last time! My. Name. Is. NOT. Nova!" I scream at him, tears flooding my eyes with my back against the door. He sighs, "Nova, what's ever been happening, I can fix it." He pleads, trying to twist the door knob. Ok, yeah. Let's see if he can fix this.
Frustrated, I stand up and unlock the door, swinging it open and he falls into me. He wraps his arm around me and sinks his head next to mine. "There's my girl" he coos was he caresses the back of my head. I push him off of me to admire him, drying my tears with my sleeve. Two weeks of being in there has drove me crazy.
His hazel eyes stare at me, confused and hurt. His 6ft body frame towering over me as he moves his hand towards my face again. I smack it and move a step back. "Who even are you?" I ask. He laughs, I'm not laughing. I want to go home. Who is this Nova girl? "Baby, come on. It's me, your fiancé. Alex?" he explains, holding my arms for support.
My bottom lip wobbles. Fiancé?
"No, you're not my fiancé. I'm Maya, my brother is Jacob and I would like to see him please" I sob. Alex tightens his grip on my arms. "Nova, honey. What has gotten into you?" he coos. I push him away from me and scowl at me. "MY NAME IS NOT NOVA!" I growl. I break into tears and run back in the room, locking the door and throw myself on the bed. Where am I? Who is he and what does he want from me?
"Baby, please open the door" Alex demands, knocking on the door. I ignore him, drowning in my own tears. Is this a role-play? Because it's not funny. "Listen, Nov- I mean, Maya. I am your fiancé. You are an only child and we live here" he explains. I sit myself up an try to calm myself down.
"No, I'm not. I understand this may be hard for you since you are engaged to Nova but, I'm not her. I swear I'm not insane, I just want to go home" I reassure him through the door. Silence. "What did you do with her?" He asks in an icy tone. I throw my hands up in the air and fall backwards onto the rug.
"Listen, I don't know who Nova is and if I did I wouldn't force us to swap bodies- WAIT! THAT'S IT!" I screech, pushing myself up and pacing the room. "What if me and Nova changed bodies?" I grin at my own idea. However, he scoffs causing me to freeze in my tracks and to listen to his thought.
"But you look just like her" Alex mutters. I rush through the door where he points to a large mirror. I can't believe this girl doesn't have a cell phone. I freeze infant of the mirror. What the hell?
My skin is pale, the complete opposite from mine-Argh! I mean Maya's. I have shirt, blonde hair which is pin straight. She's the complete opposite of me. I glare back at my 'fiancé' who is staring at me, his eyes trailing up my body. "Please stop looking at me like that, I'm not Nova" I groan. He chuckles and then looks at his feet.
"Listen, you are not going to touch me, speak to me or do anything involving me unless you're getting me back home" I command. He looks up at me and gasps, then points his finger at me. "You're bossy" he informs me like no one's ever said that to me before. I roll my eyes and continue staring in the mirror. "Do you know how to get me back home? Nova can not bump into Marcus" I shiver just at the thought of it.
Alex jumps up, "What do you mean?" he asks, his eyes staring into mine as he clenches his hands into fists. "He's my ex-boyfriend, still totally involve with me. He's a manipulative liar and would do anything just to get his way." I explain, wow I made him seem like a horrible person. Well, he is. And he deserves everything he's about to get when Alex gets a hold of him.
"We need you to change back. Now" He shouts at the last word as he storms off through the hallway. I go to follow him but it's like my had busts, ringing in my ears and a horrible migrane. I moan in pain and Alex appears around the corner. "What?!" He yells, only making the pain louder.
I push my head in-between my legs and massage my temples. "Shoot!" He screeches as he runs to me and holds my head up so I'm looking in his eyes. 'I need to get Nova back'. The pain goes away and he smirks. "Mind telling me what that was?" I ask. He stands me back up and beckons me to follow him.
"Nova has powers, that was mind reading." Alex says calmly. I pull him to a stop and raise my hands to process what he just said. 'Wait a minute. Superpowers? Who on Earth has superpowers?" I ask. Now this day can't get any worse. Alex scratches the back of his neck and furrows his eyebrows. "That's the thing...You see, we're not on Earth" He mutters.
Ok, maybe this day can get worse.
