Pain runs through my body with each step I take.

I look to my left to see the sun slowly setting. I need to find shelter before dark. I quicken my pace, trying to outrun the sun.

Heading towards the village, I spot some gryphon fliers that helped us in the battle.

There is my ticket out of here.

As I continue to get closer one of the female fliers sees me and starts running towards me.

"Are you alright?" She questions as she finally reaches.

She had soft reddish hair and chocolate brown eyes. Small freckles added detail to her face.

"I injured myself trying to avoid an attack." I motion to the girl, she looks to be slightly older than me. "But I applied some ointment so it will heal."

She nods. "That's good, let's get you somewhere, where you can rest and recuperate."

"Wait." I stop her. "I need a favor to ask your group of fliers."

"A favor?" She asks.

"Yes, I need one of you to take me to the edge of the border between Navarre and Poromiel. Near the city of Chakir."

"Why would you need to go there? Where is the rest of your dragon riders?" The woman who was talking to Xaden appears.

The redhead girl that I was talking to widens her eyes at the realization that I'm a rider.

"They left. I need to get back home." I answer, now looking at the woman.

"Why would they leave you in Poromiel territory, Melgren?" She narrows her eyes at me.

"That is my business." I sigh at her unwillingness to cooperate. "I helped save your village so please return the favor by taking me to Chakir."

The woman takes a minute to think about my words before responding.

"Very well, we won't take you directly to Chakir but we'll leave you near the border. Thank you for your help. We greatly appreciate it and apologies for the rude welcome when we first met."

"It's alright but thank you for helping me as well. I won't forget your kindness." I give her a smile.

"Alina." She looks to the girl next to me. "You will take Melgren here to the Navarrian border near Chakir. But do not get any closer than that, understood?" The woman commands.

Alina nods her head. "Yes!"

"Oh, and one more thing," I announce. "Please act as if you never knew me, if someone asks about me tell them that you have never seen me."

"And why would I do that?" She folds her arms waiting for my answer.

"A gryphon helping a Melgren is sure to cause confusion and I don't want that. I have plans that I don't want to be interfered with. And you probably have the same."

"You have my word. Then get on with it."

The woman then leaves us to help with the civilians.

"Thank you for doing this." I pass Alina a smile.

"Of course, it was an order so I have to." Alina starts walking ahead of me, leading me to her gryphon.

"Are you sure you want to start flying now? It's starting to get dark and you're probably tired from the battle." I voice my worry.

"It's alright. Wren, my gryphon has expert night vision and I believe it would be best to approach the border when it is nighttime." She turns, displaying her beautiful beast.
