Shivali's POV
I stand in the front of the side door to the hall where my engagement function would be held. The faint music from inside brushed against my ear as some chatter from nearby filled in my ears too
I turned my head a little to glance at Akshi as she stood just beside me and I saw her already looking at me and gave a curt nod in my direction. I took a deep breath as my cousin brothers pushed open the door
The chatter nearby me seemed to calm down as everyone turned to look at me. I felt Akshavi take a step behind me giving me the proper limelight but still standing close just incase I need her help or something
I take a step ahead into the hall as a light gentle music filled the room and a smile take over my lips as the cameramen focused the camera on my face and I start walking gracefully holding the corners of the length of my dress
My eyes slowly move around the hall as I catch sight of some familiar and some unfamiliar faces and try to maintain the smile still on my face. Nerves creep up on my spine as my eyes meet the scrutinizing gazes of some of the guests
I turn my head again to face the camera trying to calm my brain down slowly as I again took some calculated steps forward before moving my eyes finally to take a glance at the stage where he would probably already be standing
My eyes slowly meet his and goosebumps arose all over my skin and I immediately lowered my gaze because I was sure that this time I wouldn't have been able to maintain this façade of smile on my face and would have gotten clicked looking completely scared
"Akshi" I heard the voice of my mother and turned to see her gesturing for Akshi to walk towards her. A small frown took over my features as I saw Akshi running towards mummy leaving me kind of stranded alone as my feet halted in front of the stairs leading to the stage
I held the front of my dress slowly gripping it in between my fingers as to avoid it getting tangled with my heel as I climbed the stairs. I felt a presence behind me as I turned to glance at a boy who looked like a younger and slightly messed up hair version of Devesh ji
"Let me help you, bhabhi" he said in sweet and charismatic way next to my ear and I passed a smile in his direction realizing he must be one of Devesh ji's younger brother, Agastya, who I couldn't meet up until now as he was busy with his job
"Thankyou" I said as I stood straight on the stage and saw him slowly blink his eyes in my direction before he turned and stepped a little back as I walked to stand next to Devesh ji.
I moved my eyes as they caught sight of him and he just stared at my face with no expression on his face and I slowly blinked as I stood just beside him still facing him. His eyes moved towards my feet and I tilted my head a little
His gaze again went to my face and I saw a small twitch of his lips and slightly furrowed my eyebrows as I realized that his eyes didn't wander over my body even once. He just looked at my face and then at my feet completely avoiding to check me out
I slowly pursed in my lips as I looked at him and he motioned slowly towards the couch in front of us and I smiled as I settled down still feeling like someone opened a jar filled with thousands of butterflies inside my stomach
