Akshavi's POV
I held the last of the packet in my hand holding the strap with my pinky finger as I lift it off too and start walking towards the door and see papa ringing the doorbell to the house holding only three packets while Neha Didi held about four packets.
I don't know how I am the one who ends up being the coolie for everyone everytime. I stared at the door waiting for it to open as the weight of the stuff in my hand seemed to dawn on me. I fumbled with the packets as I held them higher, closer to my chest
"Papa, did you even ring the doorbell?" I asked turning to glance at him and he tilted his head in my direction in a derisive manner and I huffed again turning to stare at the door. Why are they taking so long to open a door?
"Namaste uncle" I heard a voice and the next second the door swung open completely and I released a deep sigh seeing Saketh standing at the door. He smiled at papa as he bend down to touch papa's feet and papa gently patted his head
"Hello" he said turning towards us and I nodded my head with a smile while Neha Didi replied his greeting. His eyes moved along my hands and face as a grin took over his face as he stepped ahead towards me
"Need help?" he said and I immediately nodded my head forwarding my right hand in his direction
"Yes, please" I said with an urgency in my voice and he chuckled as he helped me with the gifts in one of my hand. I released a deep breath as I felt a huge sense of relief wash over me as most of the weight was lifted off of me
"You are a lifesaver, Saketh" I said patting on his arm as I stepped inside the door and saw Neha Didi following behind me. I saw Saketh step aside a little allowing her to step inside the house first too
"Do you need help too, Didi?" Saketh asked looking at Neha Didi and she shook her head at him with a polite smile. I really doubt that she belongs to our family none of us are polite like her. I scrunched my nose as his words seemed to properly register in my mind
"Hey, by the way, why do you call her Didi and not me" I said turning to pass him a look while fiddling my eyebrows. He puckered his eyebrows, pouted and continued staring at me and I smiled slowly in his direction
"Because she is old enough to be a Didi and you are not. You are basically my age" he said squinting his eyes a little, I shrugged and continued walking down the hall.
We reached the guest living room of their house and I peaked in my head first before entering the place. I smiled and bowed down a little as I saw Didi's mother in law already settled there
"Namaste" I said slowly nodding my head in her direction and she smiled at me slowly replying my greeting as I kept the packets in my hand on the table in the corner where papa already had kept the gifts he had in his hand
"I assume those bags are Shivali's" Aunty said pointing towards the two bags that Saketh was dragging inside the house and I smiled at her nodding my head as I turned towards the couch ready to take a seat
"They are, I was thinking of taking them to her room later" I said immediately when I heard some chirpy sound from the other corner of the house. Oh god, I am not staying in here with those ladies
"Sure, you can go upstairs and keep the bags in her room" aunty said passing me a sweet smile and I turned my head the other side as I heard a slight hustle and bustle from the hall and internally cringed and saw aunt's overenthusiastic friends step inside the hall
