Amane creaked the door to his house open and peeked inside, hoping that his brother wasn't there waiting for him. He walked in with a sigh, but noticed that neither his Dad nor Tsukasa were home. The room was ominous, the silence was overwhelming, but it didn't stop the boy from seeing his mother.
He walked into her bedroom, kneeling down next to her. Her breathing was steady, but it was quiet.
"Hi Mom... I see you're still not feeling well..." Amane sighed softly, kissing his mother's forehead.
He stood up and started making his way to the door, but stopped when he heard a faint voice coming from behind him. He turned around and noticed his mom's eyes were open, and she had a small smile on her face.
"Amane... It's so good to see you..." His mother quietly said.
Suddenly, tears began flowing down Amane's cheeks and he ran over to his mother, giving her a gentle hug. "M-Mom! You're awake!"
"Yes, honey..." His mother rubbed his back before letting out a loud cough. "H-How... Have you been...?"
"Oh, Mom... I made some new friends, and we had a sleepover just last night... I met this girl Nene first, and she's wonderful..." His voice cracked in between his sentences as he sobbed into his Mom's shoulder.
"I'm so happy for you, Amane..." She combed her fingers through her son's hair. Amane looked back at the door as he heard it creak open, revealing his Dad holding a few medications in his hands.
"Oh good, you're awake... Let go of your mother, Amane, I have to give her some medicine." His father said, kneeling next to both of them.
Amane backed away and watched as his father gave her some medicine. "Is she getting better, Dad...?"
He turned his head as his wife closed her eyes again and nodded slightly. "Slowly but surely, son... I know she appreciates it when you check on her."
"Yeah... I told her that I made some new friends." The boy smiles a little, looking down at his mom.
"Really? Well, that's great to hear Amane." His father adjusts his wife's blanket and smiles at his son.
"By the way Dad, where's Tsukasa?" Amane asks, his expression turning a little nervous.
"He's in his room right now. Why don't you give him some company?"
Amane hesitates but nods, standing up. He glances one last time at his mother before slowly walking out of the room, only to knock into his brother. He falls back on his butt and looks up at him.
"Amane! I'm so glad you're home!" Tsukasa crouches down to face his brother, staring at him with an ominous smirk on his face. "I overheard that Mom woke up for a little."
The boy backs up a little, trying to hide his nervousness. "Yeah. I guess she's starting to get better."
"That's wonderful!" Tsukasa stands up, pulling his brother up with him. He leans in close to Amane's face, his smirk overwhelming his brother. "How about we celebrate...?~"
Amane quickly pushes his brother away, backing away from him once again. Tsukasa grabs his twin's shirt before he can run off.
"What?! What do you mean 'celebrate', Tsukasa?!" The dark-haired boy looks back at his younger twin with a terrified expression.
Tsukasa leans into his brother's ear. "Let's visit Ne-Chan tomorrow, hm? Tell hell the good news?"
"Hell no! After yesterday, I'm not letting you get anywhere near her aga-" Amane angrily replies, only for his younger brother to cover his mouth.
