Mike's POV

"M-Mike...?" Jeremy looked up at me while holding the cheek that I had just slapped. I inwardly winced when I saw the bruise that was already beginning to form, did I hit him that hard?

I suddenly gripped his shoulders and pulled his face close to mine giving him a good shake, "Don't ever do something like again, you understand?! I thought you might have gone and gotten yourself killed!" Jeremy and I were both trembling so I pulled him into a hug then kissed his cheek. It helped relieve my stress and it seemed to calm him down, "Just don't do that again..."

When I pulled back Jeremy looked over at the burning house, "D-Did I do that? I-Is this my fault?" He looked like he was about to cry.

I sighed, "No, no Its not. It was just the disease."

"T-The disease?"

"I'll explain on the way home, we may want to get out of here before anyone sees us. I don't want you to go to jail or anything like that."

He nodded, "O-Ok." We made our way to my car and got in. As I started the car I took one last look at the burning house before driving away.

~·~

"S-So that's why he wanted a n-name so badly."

I looked over at Jeremy once I parked my car in the driveway, "Yep, they like to be as close to human as possible."

"Yeah."

We got out of and I noticed Jeremy shaking, he did seem awfully exhausted as well. I bent down a bit so I was eye level with him, "You're going to bed immediately, you look like you got hit by a truck." He nodded and walked up to the front door almost zombie-like.

When he opened the door Julia was standing there with a relived expression, "Where were you two?! I was worried sick!" She then pulled us inside.

"Julia chill, we just need some rest."

She sighed in frustration when I told her to chill, I've learned the hard way that she doesn't like to be told to calm down.

Jeremy brushed past her, going to his room and and shutting the door with a click. I stared after him, feeling a bit ashamed that I had spread the disease to him.

I jumped a bit when I felt a small hand poke my side, "Will Jeremy be okay?" Looking down I saw Kevin standing there in one of my really old shirts that I didn't wear anymore. We had to give the brothers some supplies to settle in when they started living with us.

"I think so, just don't bother him too much okay? He's had a rough night," A thought occurred to me, "Speaking of night, shouldn't you be in bed?"

He shrugged, "I was worried and Julia said I could stay up."

I looked to where Julia had been standing to find her gone. Why did Vincent teach her to be so silent? Ugh, oh well, "I'll tuck you in." I took Kevin's hand and led him down the hallway to the other bedroom that he had been using. As I opened the door I yawned, "Alright, get in bed." He got into the bed and looked at me like he was expecting something and I raised an eyebrow, "What is it?"

"Could you tell me a bedtime story?" I frowned, "Jeremy would tell me them but he but he doesn't seem to be in the mood right now."

"Why me?"

"Why not?"

I guess he had a point, "Listen Kevin, I don't really know any bedtime stories.

Kevin looked a bit disappointed but he brightened up soon after, "How about I tell you one Jeremy told me once?"

"Sure, shoot." I sprawled out on the bed to listen since I was tired myself.

"Once upon a time there was a Prince who lived in a castle and did lots of things to keep his city running. One day he wanted to do something different for a change, he had always wanted to do boxing but his Father said no. The Prince decided not to let his father keep him from trying so he went to try in out. Soon enough he had became the world best boxer and his father was proud of him, the end."

I yawned a long and deep yawn, "Good story." I felt my eyelids droop, was I going to fall asleep? Did I care? Nope.

Vincent's POV

I quickly sat up in bed at the sound of faint screams muffled by the walls. No, no, no! Not the childern! I looked around terrified then I realized I was at Julia's place. Wait... then whose screams were those? I got out of bed making sure not to wake up the sleeping Julia and looked at the time, 6:00 am. Heh the irony.

I left the bedroom and looked down the darkened hallway. The screams continued and the walls stifled them like it was pressing a strong hand over their mouth. My breathing hitched when I heard the next scream came, almost identical to the screams that have been haunting me in dreams. As I approached the door where it as coming from I placed my hand on the doorknob preparing to see who was on the other side of the door. I opened in and looked worriedly at a pile of blankets in the corner of the room.

Raising an eyebrow I asked, "Jeremy? Is that's you?" The small figure hidden in the blankets looked up revealing his face. He had a horrified expression plastered to his face. He didn't seem to be looking directly at me, it was more like he was looking beside me, "Um... are you ok?"

His eyes focused on me, "Y-You c-can't see it?" He then pointed to a place beside me. Ohhh, I see. Little Jeremy caught the disease from Mike, who didn't see thar coming? Well I guess I can't make him go back to bed since it's already morning. "No I can't see him but I basically know what you're seeing. You should get ready for the day if you're not planning on going back to sleep."

Jeremy quickly nodded and I left to go sit on the couch in th living room and watch some of the news and weather channels they had on this early. It didn't seem like anything interesting was going on, just something about a house burning down. I stood up to go to the kitchen to make my favorite breakfast, scrambled eggs and a good amount of toast. I paused.

Jeremy walked into the room with a concerned expression. I was clutching an empty bag that used to contain bread, "Jeremy we're going to the store."

[A/N: Insert an angry Vincent dragging Jeremy out of the house xD.
