9: Day At The Cafe

A/N: I actually didn't think i'd get far with this thanks sm you guys <3 anyways here chapter 9!

Celeste's POV:

Snowflakes cover the ground with a white soft texture on my hand, no I didn't bring any gloves, I'm not sure why, it is pretty cold out.. Christmas is coming since it is december and all. I sigh as the snow makes crunching sounds. I have to walk home from school tonight. Today Monika wasn't there.

I texted her today and Monika said she wasn't feeling well. It's been a good two days since I've been to her house. I hope her brother is taking good care of her. Speaking of which I should go visit her.

I picked up my speed and switched paths from my house to go to Monika's house. As I was walking I got a call from Monika.

"Hello?" I instantly say as I pick up the phone. 

"Hi, dear!" Monika says in her sing-song voice.

"What are you doing right now?" I ask as I keep my pace walking along the path.

"Oh nothing much.. How was the Literature club doing without me today?"

"Oh well Yuri kinda took over the club since the club president isn't there.." I was almost there at her house and I just had to make a few turns.

"Can you come over?" Monika asks 

"Actually, funny story.."

"What?" She says. 

"i'm right outside your house." Hearing my own voice saying that makes me get the chills, it's so creepy!

"Nuh-uh! You really thought about me?" Monika says with cheerfulness in her voice.

"Check outside your window right now." I say simply.

I see a silhouette in the window I was staring at and moving the curtains around to get a good view outside. Monika.

"HI!!" I hear over the phone and through the window, surprisingly. I didn't realize Monika was so excited to see me.

I walk up to her front door and knock on it, maybe ringing the doorbell a few times. Monika opened the door with a smile on her face. She was happy to see me. I walk up to her and hugged her and kissed her cheek.

"Hello, Moni!" I say while crossing my arms from the cold weather.

"Hey, Celeste." Monika lets me in and closes the door to let any more hot air get out of the house and let the cold air inside.

"So do you wanna go somewhere today?" Monika asks while going to the kitchen and grabbing something from the counter.

"But aren't you sick?" I thought Monika was sick today..Did she lie just to miss school?

"Nah, I'm just exhausted..Hey I heard that Natsuki, Yuri, and MC  are gonna be hanging out at a cafe today, would you like to come with me?" Monika says changing the subject.

"That sounds fun! I wanna come." I reply with a cheerful tone. 

"Yeah, it's really cool actually, Natsuki texted me about it, they're having a holiday special and some cool deals there, Plus it might give some time to write more poems!" Monika says putting one hand on her hip. 

"So when are we gonna go?" Monika took out her phone, she's typing something.

"Okay- we can go now if we want. I just texted Natsuki, and she said we can go now." Monika says putting her phone back in her pocket.

"Alright," I was just standing there now Monika was getting her coat on. She also had earmuffs on and they looked super cute on her. 

We left the house and started walking to the cafe as we did so we interlocked our hands. "Natsuki texted me where the location is so we just have to follow the directions." Monika says taking quick looks at the sidewalk to see where she was going and at her phone. I hummed in response. I didn't want to talk because it was too cold.

I leaned my head on her shoulder as we continued to walk to the cafe and she looked over at me. Monika then began to caress my hair with her gentle fingertips. The snow crunching under our feet made a rhythm-like pattern and we were just in the moment. I liked these moments with Monika.

"Okay we just have to make a few turns and we'll be there soon." Monika says breaking the silence. 

As we continued to walk I swayed our hands together. I swung them back and forth and Monika followed through. We then made it to the cafe and I saw Yuri and Natsuki through the window including MC. Monika took out her phone and texted them telling them we're here. We opened the front door to the cafe and immediately Natsuki greeted us holding the hand of Yuri.

"Hey guys!" Natsuki says before taking a sip out of her hot chocolate.

"Hello Monika, Celeste." Yuri greeted us, bowing.

MC followed up behind them. "Hi guys!" MC waved a little bit to us.

"So what did you wanna get, Celeste?" Monika turns her head to me and says it with a smile.

"Hmm the coffee here looks good but I like the little hot chocolate with the candy cane bits in it.." I say while looking at the menu. Yes I was one of those indecisive people, but truly this was a hard choice for me. 

Natsuki whispered in my ear. "Get the hot chocolate it's cheaper!" Natsuki quickly backs away taking another sip from her drink.

"I'll take the hot chocolate!" I say looking at Monika. She nods and she asks the person at the counter for the hot chocolate and a small coffee.

"C'mon Celeste!" Natsuki waves me over to a booth. Yuri is sitting next to her. MC is just on his phone sitting by the window at the same booth. Monika comes over to us quickly with our drinks. 

"Here we go, they spelt my name wrong by the way.. I always hate that." Monika says with her cup of coffee being labeled as 'Monica' Instead of 'Monika'. I chuckled to myself as I looked at her taking a sip from her coffee. 

I started to drink from my hot chocolate and hum at the good taste. The candy cane bits in the hot coco do make it taste pretty good. The whipped cream and marshmallows are still the best part though..

Yuri starts speaking. "Hey guys, I have an idea." Yuri says while finishing the pastry she was eating.

"What is it Yuri?" Monika asks holding her cup with two hands.

"We should hold a festival for this year's christmas and make christmas poems for the holidays!" Yuri says blushing a bit maybe from shyness.

"That's a good idea Yuri! Maybe we could hold a fundraiser for a better clubroom." Monika replies. 

"Yeah maybe if it's not freezing outside, if that's even a chance," Natsuki says to Yuri rolling her eyes. "But I do like the idea..And maybe the fundraiser wouldn't be such a bad idea, we could use a better place to hold club meetings.. And I could use a better place to put my manga, because someone, likes to put my manga at the top shelf where I can't reach." Natsuki says making MC chuckle little bit.

I smile a little bit. I like these moments we have together.

I hope nothing can change that,
