We reached the town square in a huff. The tickets were almost sold out and we were the last ones to enter the lucky draw of the five fortunate people who would have a chance to watch the magic show for free.

A smooth and silky voice ran through the crowd," Ladies and Gentlemen the much awaited magic show will be held on Friday evening and the lucky winners of the lucky draw are...."

I  waited with baited breath. This was my only chance to see the magic show  and besides if I any of us don't land a ticket, we might never get to see a magic show!

"Ms. Cleo, Mr Alvin, Mr Ryker......."

That was all I needed to hear. All of us were going.

Yes! I can finally get to see the magic show!

"Did you hear that? I can't believe my ears!" Alvin said.

"Now, even the warden's taunts and punishment can't  dampen our spirits!" Ryker said.

Oh yeah, we will have to deal with that too......

"Guys, we will have to go back home." I said drawing their attention to the problem that lay ahead of us.

"Yeah, what's the issue in that?" Alvin asked.

"We have to cross the forest again." I said.

"Oh...." Came the reply.

Alvin

"Can't we stay here for the night?" Ryker asked.

Cleo rolled her eyes. We had been over this for the past hour.

"No, we can't because we don't know anyone here and we don't even have the money to stay in an inn." Cleo said annoyed.

We had to decide what to do as crossing the forest at this time of the day wasn't really the best choice.

"Okay then, lets risk it." Ryker said.

"And what if something happens like last time? What if one of us gets lost?" I asked.

"We anyway don't have a place to go to. Might as well go back home. Who knows? Maybe we'll reach there by dawn." Ryker said.

While I agreed that there was no place where we could stay, we couldn't just risk our lives!

"Maybe we can ask somebody around. Maybe they'll offer us a place to stay for the night." I suggested.

"And what makes you think that they would trust a bunch of unknown children, who they think could possibly rob? No one is going to agree." Ryker said.

Yeah, I didn't think of that.....

"Fine." I sighed defeated as now, even I couldn't see another option.

It was a silent walk to the forest. The moon shone brightly, dimly scattering its magical essence along the way. And in sometime, we were standing in front of the forest.

We are breaking the rules.

We shouldn't be doing this.

But we don't have a choice......

I took a deep breath as I took my first step into the unknown and the forbidden.

Cleo

As I set foot in the forest, following my friends, I suddenly recalled the warnings given and was lost in my whirlwind of questions....

Two warnings in one day?

Is this my imagination or reality?

Who was that dwarf?

Why did the tree warn me?

What do I not know?

In the tangled threads of my existence, what would be my fate?

Would it be my choice, or someone else's'?
