I was sitting on the sofa scrolling through instagram when I saw Mahir ji going towards the main door, dressed up in his office attire. He was talking on the phone as usual and didn't pay any attention to his surroundings.
I was on a leave from my office for 2 weeks. So I, still had this day with me until I started going to work again. I got up, making my way towards the room as it got emptied now. I saw him stopping and turning to my side.
He looked at me and his frown relaxed and all the tensed muscles on his face relaxed too. He smiled looking at me.
"I am going to work." He gentally said.
I felt awkward. Why was he being so...so husband like?
"I can see that, why are you telling me?" I tried to finish off the conversation by shrugging it and continued to walk on my track until he said something completely unexpected.
"Kyunki tum meri patni ho Naina."
(Because you are my wife Naina.)
I gulped and looked back at him. His face was stern but his eyes...god DAMN!
They always held some emotions which he he didn't portray on his face.
"In everyone's eyes Mahir ji. To me you're nothing but Yash's older brother who married me by deceit." I gave him a reality check.
His eyes dropped and he seemed really embarrassed, but he raised his head again and nodded trying to agree to my words. He gave me line smile and said, "You're right. I did deceive you, but my intentions weren't wrong Naina." He took a deep breath before continuing again.
"Uss din jab main tumse milne tumahre room main aaya tha, maine uss wakt tumahre aankhon main sitaare dekhe the Naina. Woh sitaare jo apne chand ko dekhne ke liye bekarar the. Maine uss samay dekha tha ki tum Yash se kitna pyaar karti ho.
Lekin Yash? Woh toh bhag gaya tha.
Aur main nahin chata tha ki tumahri aankhon ki chamak mit jaaye. Isliye maine itna bada kadam uthaya.
Main chata toh na bhi bol sakta tha Naina....lekin meri zindagii se zyada uss wakt mujhe tumahri khushi zyada important lagi. Isi wajah se maine mandap pe bethne ka nirnaya liya.
Ab chahe tum isse bura mano ya acha par kyunki humari shaadi ho chuki hai toh mere liye na hi sahi, kam se kam iss rishtey ke liye hi mujhe apna lo?
Pati na hi sahi par ek dost hi sahi...dost toh hum pahele bhi the hi na Naina?."
