I switched off the computer and stretched my limbs on my chair. I hated everything, my life, my work, and everything that came into my sight.
I got up and packed my bag to leave when suddenly I noticed my phone vibrating, I picked it up to see a notification pop up.
'I am downstairs, come fast!' I smiled walked to the window sill and shifted the blinds to see Mahir ji, leaning on his car and waiting for me.
Skipping some stairs, I brisked walked towards the main door of my building. There he was being checked out by every passing female. I giggled when I saw him smiling at me ignoring all the glances he was getting.
"You look amazing for an office worker, it's a pity you're not putting it to the right use." I furrowed at his words, as he took my bag and opened the door for me to sit in.
He closed the door and kept my bag on the back seat. I noticed his face in the meantime. A perfect jawline paired with fluffy apple cheeks with a slight pink shade on them. Plump red lips with slight cuts here and there, a result of his constant habit of biting them. Not to forget about his eyes, the most beautiful part of his face.
I couldn't get a good look at his face, as he turned his sight towards me taking me by surprise. "Had a good look?" He nagged with a subtle hint of playfulness. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms looking in the front.
"Leave that, what were you saying outside?" He ignited the engine and drove us off. "What do you mean?" He acted dumb.
"You look amazing for an office worker, it's a pity you're not putting it to the right use." I mocked his words and heard him slightly chuckle. "Ohh thatt!!" He sang and I impatiently looked at him. "What did you mean by that? That I don't look good to be an office worker?!" I urged.
He stopped the car on the signal and looked at me. "I said that you're so pretty to be working as an office worker. You should put it to the right use."
There he went again!
Puzzling me with his words again!
"Yes, THAT THAT! what do you mean by that?!" He chuckled as he made a turn towards our home. I was getting impatient with the passing of time and the shortening of the distance to our home.
He parked the car in the garage and finally managed to look at me. He gave me a small smile before tucking a strand of my hair on my ear.
"You should be working for me. Sitting in front of me all day to please my eyes and my heart which miss you all day." My heart picked its pace but I tried to compose myself.
"So you don't want me to work?!" He sighed and put his head on the steering wheel. "That's the problem, I can't keep you with me all day, no matter how much I miss seeing your pretty face." I tried to hide my smile before he could see it, but at that moment I was having fireworks in my stomach.
"C'mon, let's go inside the house." I shook him lightly and he got up. We both entered the house to hear people talking.
"Naina!" I heard my mom's cheerful voice book in the hallway and I ran into her arms with the same energy.
"Oh, it's so good to see you, my love!" My mother heaved out an elaborate sigh. Her cologne invaded my senses and gave me the same sense of relaxation, it used to give me in the past.
We broke the hug and she wiped the tears that were flowing through her eyes. I chuckled seeing her get so emotional and pull her cheeks. She slapped my hand away cheekily and smiled upon seeing Mahir ji.
My gaze fell upon Saksham Bhai who didn't have a pleasing look on his face. He was giving a death glare to Yash who was sitting unfazed.
I gulped upon noticing my brother's anger and quickly put on a smile and ran towards my bhabhi (sister-in-law) who had a huge baby bump.
-
"We came here to invite you all to Ayesha's Baby shower tomorrow." My father announced, and I smiled, simultaneously side-hugging my beautiful bhabhi.
"That's great! I cannot wait to become a bua (aunty)" I sang happily as Bhai hit me on the head.
-
I stood in the kitchen after sending the househelp to serve everyone sweets.
I was waiting for the chai to boil when I saw Bhai standing right beside me."Are you alright shona?" I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at him in confusion. "Yash; he came back." I chose to ignore his words by sieving the tea out into the cups.
"I am fine bhai." I smiled while giving him a gentle pat on the shoulder. "I didn't keep my promise." I confusedly stared at him and he took a deep breath in.
"To punch him." The old memory of him taking a pledge to punch Yash if he ever made me cry crossed my mind and I laughed. He pouted his lips and I pulled his cheeks, "Like I told, there is no need for that. I am happy with Mahir ji." His eyes softened upon hearing his name.
"To be honest, I did kind of like Mahir more than that Yash." I chuckled while shaking my head at his stupid talk.
I placed the cups on the tray and got myself ready to serve my family. We both left the kitchen and while moving a thought came into my mind and l kind of blurted it out.
"Bhai?"
"Hm?"
"Are mumma and daddy upset with Yash's arrival?"
"Yes. They were awkward at first but then you both came."
I nodded my head and gazed at my happy parents who were talking with my other parents. While Mahir ji conversed with bhabhi.
Yash?
Well he was immersed in his phone and I was glad he didn't cause any commotion
"Aap logo ki chai hazir hai!!"
(Your chai is here everyone!!)-
By giving a last and a long hug to my dad, we bid them a goodbye. Mahir ji and I went to our room and settled on the bed.
"I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE MY NEPHEW!" I squealed in happiness, I still couldn't believe my brother could start his own family.
He was a jerk in our childhood, but now he was my best man, the best of everything!
"I too can't wait to see our nephew Naina. Bhabi seemed happy too though I could sense the nervousness around her." He spoke with a slight hint of concern.
"It's normal Mahir ji, she is in her 3rd trimester, of course she would be nervous!" I chimed in to make him a little bit more happy.
"The baby would be small, wouldn't it?" He questioned while looking at his fingers. "Yes, it would be, about this small?!" I showed him the baby's size using my hands, his gaze stuck on me the whole time making me nervous. I eventually stopped and scratched the back of my neck feeling embarrassed.
"W-what are you looking at?" He smiled before tucking a strand of my hair back.
"Seeing how beautiful our children are going to look." My world stopped. He was thinking what?! His eyes glowed with passion, as he held my hand and brought his face closer to peck my forehead.
Our children.
