'With glee winters seeks her out with freezing winds to blow; making breath to freeze and hearts of two to slow.'
Namjoon finishes tucking in the blanket's edge, tenderly kissing your head and saying, "You are so cute." He runs his finger ever so softly behind your ear. At first, he was upset at you and Jungkook for taking you to get a tattoo, but he has come to love it.
He touches each solid heart that runs in a gentle curve following the contour of your right ear—seven tiny solid hearts with an eighth one currently just an outline. You had told him you planned to fill the heart once the baby was born.
"I will let the others know not to disturb you."
You whisper, "Jooni, can you please ask Jimin to come sing to me?"
Namjoon smiles, saying, "Of course, sweetheart."
Lately, it has become your habit to have Jimin sing lullabies to you. Now it seems you need to tell Jimin why. Pain across your lower back hits you again, and you place your hand on your tummy, worried you may be going into labor. But you need to take care of a few things first.
A few minutes later, Jimin slips into the bedroom and quietly closes the door in case you are already asleep. He recalls the day you asked him to sing lullabies to you.
"Jimin, would you sing to me? The sound of your voice soothes me like no other." With all the effects of chemotherapy, you were having trouble sleeping, even though you feel so exhausted. As you focus on his angelic voice it soothes you into peaceful sleep blocking the worry and discomfort.
He is happy to do so, saying, "Of course, Princess. But Namjoon can sing lullabies, too."
"Though he is my gentle giant, rap just doesn't help me fall asleep." You giggle, and he does, too.
"I guess you have a point, Hana." He laughs and pulls a chair up near the bed.
"What would you like me to sing today?"
Reaching out, you take hold of his hand and tell him, "Jimin, I want to talk to you first."
He smiles, gently caresses his thumb over the top of your hand, and says, "I'm here, Princess."
"Jimin, remember Namjoon and I asked you and Yoongi to be our baby's godfathers?"
Jimin squeezes your hand and says, "I am more than honored, Hana. Thank you." He gives a slight bow from the chair.
"I, I want you to promise me something."
He scoots closer to hear you as your voice has gotten softer. "Please take care of my Jooni for me. Don't let him stay in the darkness of mourning for me."
Tears rise in Jimin's eyes before he says, "Please don't talk like you won't be here. I won't have it."
Your eyes brim with tears, "I want to be here to raise our baby, but just in case . . ."
"Stop, please, Hana. You and the baby have made it this far. You are due any day now. Please don't talk like you won't be here."
You lightly squeeze his hand, saying, "Please listen to me, Jimin. I need you and Yoongi to look after my Jooni and help him take care of our baby. Do you know the reason why I asked you to sing lullabies to me?"
He gives you a teary eyed grin and says, "Because my voice is cute, sexy, and lovely?"
You smile, "I asked you to sing lullabies because I want your voice to be familiar to the baby. So you can sing the little one to sleep when they have trouble sleeping, just like you do for me."
Jimin wipes his tears on his sleeve and then gently wipes the tear that is caressing its way down your cheek.
"I'm tired now, Jimin. Will you promise me?"
"Yes, Princess, I promise," Jimin says as he kisses your cheek and softly sings to you.
After several lullabies, he leaves your bedroom and quietly closes the door. He starts to turn, wiping the tears from his face, when he sees Yoongi.
Seeing his dongsaeng crying, Yoongi pulls him into a hug and pats his back. "I know this is hard, and it hurts to see her and Namjoon going through this. Go ahead and cry, Jimin-ah."
That evening Jin brings you a little something to eat and you ask, "Jin can you ask Yoongi if he is free and could he come see me?"
"Yeah sure, Namjoon is on his way to eat with you now, so I will go tell Yoongi."
You lean forward as Jin fluffs and stacks your pillows behind you so you can sit up. He places the food tray over your lap, unfolds your napkin, and starts tucking it into your nightgown collar. You giggle at him.
"Jin, I can do that," you tell him as you finish tucking it in, but your fingers cross. He takes hold of your hand, and you look at each other.
"Please don't cry Jin."
He lets go of your hand and clears his throat to say, "Oh, um, I think it's just dust."
He wipes his eyes. "If you need anything else, just let me know, okay?"
You smile at him and say, "Yes, thank you."
Namjoon comes in carrying a plate of food and sits in the chair vacated not long ago by Jimin.
"How are you feeling Yeobo?" he asks as he takes a mouthful of food.
"I'm okay. I'm not very hungry today." You nibble a little on the saltine crackers Jin had around the bowl of chicken and rice soup. Your heart flips, and you sigh, pushing the food tray away and putting a hand on your back.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Namjoon asks as he moves the food tray from the bed and sits it on the small table. He returns and sits on the edge of the bed, worry causing frown lines on his face.
You muster a laugh and lie: "All this lying around has my back hurting a little, is all. I'm okay. Please don't worry so much."
You reach up and caress his face. "I'll be ok. I'm just tired."
He kisses your forehead and tenderly runs his hand over your smooth scalp.
"You are so freaking cute," he says, then gathers the tray and dishes to take them to the kitchen.
As he walks towards the door, it opens, and Yoongi peeks his head around, asking, "You wanted to see me, Hana?"
"Yes, Yoongi, I did."
