Prom was quickly approaching. Diana insisted that even though Taylor hadn't been asked yet, she still need to find a dress. So even though Taylor would rather be spending her Saturday doing anything else, she was in a dress shop trying on endless gowns with her best friend.
"That's the one, it looks great. Let's buy it." Taylor told her friend as she tried on the thirteenth dress of the day.
"I don't know, yellow isn't really my color."
Taylor rolled her eyes at her friend's behavior. Taylor had a lot on her mind as it was, and didn't want to be thinking about what her best friend's "color" was on top of it all.
Taylor had given P.J. two months to ask her out. He still hadn't. Although the two ate lunch together every day, and had the occasional study date, the boy hadn't made any progress towards asking her to the prom.
Taylor wasn't one to let boys rule her life, however she was on the verge of making a huge decsion based on the actions of one careless teenage boy.
Taylor had the credits to graduate in one month. She always knew she would, but had decided she wanted a real Senior Year. However, she had been offered an internship at a publishing company in New York, and she'd be a fool to turn it down.
But didn't they always say that love makes you foolish?
"Okay what is with you? You've been acting really weird all week. I thoght watching me try on clothes would cheer you up?" Diana sat next to her friend.
"It's nothing, Di. I just have stuff on my mind, that's all."
"What stuff? P.J.?" Diana teased.
"Partly... I'm just thinking about that internship, the one in New York. They called again, they said they'd pay me. Only a fool would turn down a paid internship." Taylor confesed to her friend.
"Taylor, I love you so I'm gonna be harsh. You gotta take it, P.J. hasn't made his move yet and that means he probably never will. Trust me, I've been there. You gotta do what's best for you, you gotta take it."
Taylor thought about Diana's words. She knew she was right, but she was hoping her best friend would feed her delusions and convince her that P.J. was in love with her. She wanted her friend to tell her to stay.
Which was why she knew that deep down, Taylor wanted to go to New York.
