Lacey watched as her dad slowly mounted the horse Casey left them and she flinched when her dad got thrown off. Rip was beside her watching as well,'only he was shaking his head."Damn that boy." John says standing up.
"Maybe we should just leave it alone." Lacey says feeling bad for the horse.
"You know we can't do that." John says pointing a finger at Lacey, who in turn puts her hands up defensively. John got back up on the horse, only it started fighting against the rains. Rip quickly grabbed Lacey by the waist moving her back as the horse hits the gate they were leaning against. Her eyes widen as her dad starts to get control over the horse and John smiles proudly only it lasted for a few seconds before he was thrown off again.
"Don't worry," John says standing up, "it's like he's my goddamn best friend now." John states as the horse stands beside him perfectly calm.
"Do you want me to give him a go?" Rip asks his hands leaving Lacey's waist as the two walk back.
"No, this jobs for someone young. Rubber bones." John states and Lacey laughs quietly gaining their attention.
"He just called you old." She says with a wide smile making a smirk appear on Rips face and John shook his head laughing at her. John was glad Lacey was getting back to normal, she hardly left her room the first few days after Lees funeral. John almost debated calling Kacey to drag her to the reservation for a few days to get away.
"I'm not getting on that thing." Lacey says looking at the wild horse, she only ever rode her horse Bernie. She refused to ride anyone else's, Bernie was kind to her, and she's been riding him since she was eighteen.
"No way in hell you're getting near that horse." Rip says looking at John hoping that he wasn't talking about Lacey.
"Not you." John says his eyes drifting or Jimmy, the new helping hand on the ranch. Rip seemed found of the idea walking over to the new guy while Lacey sighed.

"This is cruel." Lacey mutters as Ryan wraps an arm around her shoulder pulling her to his side, Colby was on the other side of her smiling big as Jimmy was getting situated on the horse.
"Aw come on Little Lacey, think of it as an initiation into the ranch." Ryan says with a wide smile. Lacey rolled her eyes and gave Jimmy a small smile for support as Rip was explaining him what to do, mostly to just not let go.
"I would prepare yourself for some resistance." Ryan says loudly to Jimmy as Rip makes his way back towards them.
"W-what kind of resistance?" Jimmy asks unsure. Rip hops over the gate making sure to smack the back of Ryan's head making him groan and remove his arm from Lacey's shoulders.
"Quiet." John says walking over as well.
"Oh this is going to be bad." Lacey mutters. She moves from inbetween Ryan and Colby to go stand beside Rip and her father.
Jimmy starts screaming as the horse starts trying to throw him off and she sighs watching him. He honestly wasn't doing as bad as she thought he was gonna.
"I don't miss being low ground." Lloyd states laughing as Ryan rode past them.
"That's what makes you a cowboy, It'll make him one too." John says watching Jimmy.
"I still think it's cruel." Lacey says squinting slightly from the sun. She had forgotten her hat at home making it hard to see in the sunlight. Rip quickly places his hat on top of her head helping protect her eyes from the sun and she gave him a thankful look.
