A quick glance at his wristwatch showed that he was just on time; he saw the coffee shop right in front of him and walked to the side, keeping a watchful eye on the people around, anyone that got close. Though he couldn't spot the one he was waiting for, instinctively he looked down at his watch again; it was just past now. He cleared his throat and fixed his collar, looking into the window just behind him, he made a last check over how he looked.
To say he was nervous was an understatement; Shiro was feeling his heart pulse faster and faster. It was the first time he was this nervous. He tried to think back on his previous dates, though none of them made him feel like he did at this moment. He could only interpret it like he was what his heart wanted. This was one of the first times he was going on a date he himself chose. His dad had had a vision of who he was going to date and build a family with. Though his dad had long pushed on the idea that Shiro would marry a female, he later came around and stopped pushing it. Now Shiro was completely free to choose whichever person he wanted. His dad had understood that Shiro would never like those of the female gender, in that way.
Standing still, Shiro slowly lost focus, not snapping out of his thought until he felt a hand on his shoulder. There stood Adam, with fixed hair, a black and white sweater, and a thin black coat over it. He looked neat in just the right way. Not too overly dressed but still wearing clothes that made it seem that he put effort into it all. "Sorry," Shiro said as he shook his head, smiling at Adam. "You look nice," he quickly added, earning a shy smile from the other. "Thanks, sorry I was late; I was held a little longer at work," Adam said, still having that sweet smile on his face. "It's okay," Shiro quickly said, gesturing to them that they could start walking. "We have to drive for a bit, but if you're not comfortable getting into my car, we can take a taxi," Shiro said as he led Adam towards the way he came. Adam looked at him puzzled for a bit. "Are you going to kill me?" he then suddenly asked. Shiro stopped in his tracks, looked at him astonished. "No," he forced out, a puzzled expression displaying on his face. "Okay, then kidnap me then?" Adam said, having a serious expression. "No," Shiro said again, still confused. "Good," Adam said, smiling wildly, locking arms with Shiro and speeding up their steps.
Shiro still didn't understand really why Adam had asked those two questions, but he led him towards his car, having butterflies in his stomach. Even if Adam wasn't an alpha or omega, every person had their own distinct smell; some might smell similar, and different people will find the different smells good or bad depending on themselves. Alphas and omegas had an extra smell, above their original scent. These pheromones, which could tell which mood they were in. So now Shiro could without a problem breathe in the distinct smell which was Adam. It was a pleasant, soft smell, clean, a little lemon-like but also a hint of honey and strawberries. Shiro found himself almost addicted to the smell, and he had to remind himself not to take too deep sniffs and seem weird. He didn't want to freak the other out. They soon arrived at the parking lot where his car was parked - a red sports car. Adam seemed surprised at the sight; he stared at the car, then back at Shiro, then back at the car. He moved his head in that motion for a few silent seconds before he opened his mouth to speak. "Is this yours?" he said, pointing. Shiro nodded proudly. "Yup, isn't it nice?" Adam swallowed, then he looked at the ground. "Aren't I unworthy of such a ride?" he asked, his voice low. Shiro froze, his mind went blank for a second. What? He thought. "No, you aren't," he almost yelled. Why would he think like that? "I don't care about your status; I already made that clear, right? I'm only interested in you as a person," Shiro said, lowering his voice, smiling reassuringly. Adam looked relieved, a soft smile creeping upon his lips. Shortly after, his eyes sparkled like a kid as Shiro opened the car door to let him in and closed it when Adam was inside, as the gentleman he was.
It was clear that Adam enjoyed the ride, Shiro taking a rather slow-going road, with a lot of beautiful scenery. He liked to see the sparkles in his eyes. "Do you like it?" Shiro asked, the smile on his face not going away for a second. "It's amazing, I've never been in a car like this," followed by the reply, they started talking, asking each other different questions, like what their favorite food was and how work was. Rather shallow questions, but the evening had just started. It took a while, but Shiro pulled over, and they stopped at a beachside. Following candles, Shiro introduced them to the date location. A romantic dinner outside.
Adam looked at the table, the candles, and the plates. He then glanced over at Shiro, his eyes beaming with hope. "Wow," Adam said, lost for words. "This is mind-blowing," he added, finding a trail of words. "I wanted it to be special, and not just the mainstream date plan, a normal dinner, and a movie." He looked down, leading Adam to his seat, pulling out the chair, and as the beast, he could help him push it in, which wasn't easy with sand. "It might be a little too much," Shiro then added, feeling his cheeks burn. He didn't know if this fitted to be the first date or if he had trespassed into third-date territory.
Adam giggled a little, earning curious glances from Shiro. "It's perfect," Adam hummed. Shiro perked up, feeling relieved; he pressed a button, and music started to play in low volume. "I'm a terrible chef, so I paid someone with that as their profession to cook the meals. I hope that's fine." Adam nodded, listening to Shiro's explanation of the food, and then they both started eating; luckily, Adam wasn't really allergic to anything. The two sat there eating, conversing, the trail of words getting deeper and deeper.
Shiro refrained from drinking any alcohol but offered Adam if he wanted anything; he declined. In the end, they both drank some alcohol-free cider and chatted happily with each other until the air started getting chilly, and one of them checked the time. "Shit, already 00:00 am," Adam gasped, Shiro looking at his watch; by now, all the food and the dessert and the snacks had been eaten. "Wow, time really flew, huh?" he said, smiling; he had had such a nice time. "You're right about that," Adam agreed, "We should start to leave now then?" Adam added, thinking of his afternoon shift and the amount of sleep he would need. "Sounds like a good idea," Shiro voiced, standing up. "What about all this?" Adam asked, looking at the empty plates and canes and everything Shiro had brought to the beach. "Don't worry about it; I will take care of it," Shiro said, leading the other back to his car, and so there the first date came to an end, their conversation in the car an extension of what they had talked about during the dinner.
By the time they had reached the place he was going to drop off Adam, it was all nearing 1 am. Shiro had taken a little longer way, not wanting their conversation to end. "Here we are," he said as he pulled over to the side, letting Adam climb out. "thanks for a wonderful evening and night. Can I hope for a second date?" Adam asked, smiling brightly. "I would love to; have a good night's sleep, and I will text you tomorrow; we can decide a date then or later," Shiro said his goodbye, and so did Adam. As he drives away in the night, Shiro saw Adam stand there watching him leaving, holding his hand up in a wave. This had been the best day in a long time, Shiro thought, starting to drive back home.
