"Dude- come on, please?" Ren whined and flopped onto the couch like a starfish.

Now, Doc is one of the more patient types of people, for sure. But this was a whole 'nother level of annoying with Ren practically begging him to go out with him. (NOT dating for the love of god.)

He assumed at first that if he just ignored Ren or didn't comply, he'd give up soon enough. But it turns out that Ren just does the opposite and becomes more insistent.

I mean- seriously, why and how this man managed to befriend him, he has no clue.

Doc simply rolled his eyes and continued with his work. "No, you know I'm busy and I'm going to be home all day. I've offered to let you go out alone but you don't want to, so now you're stuck here with me."

"Yeah, but-"

The random animal documentation show they were watching was suddenly switched out for the news.

"This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill..."

Ren and Doc both listened to the announcement and eventually just started staring at each other for a good five minutes, as if unable to comprehend the information they've just been told and expecting the other to explain.

"You still plan on bugging me to go outside?"

Right after the news was out, people had already started knocking on their door. And of course, it wasn't long before the door was broken down and people started looking for them, perhaps it's partially Doc's fault for always making noise and disturbing his neighbours.

"Dude-" Ren was cut off as Doc immediately slapped a hand over his mouth and glared at him the moment he tried to speak.

"You better not utter a word or I'll surrender you to them myself." Doc irritatedly (is that even a word?) whispered to him.

That was enough to get Ren to shut up.

This was one of the few times Doc was genuinely grateful for Grian, who somehow managed to build a secret room in his basement with another secret room within it that was more than spacious enough for both Doc and Ren to hide out in. Both rooms including one way windows so they could see outside the room.

"They're coming."

The two quietly listened as multiple sets footsteps were heard out in the living room, quickly headed towards their hiding spot.

Doc made sure his bionic arm and eye wouldn't make any sound and Ren perked up his ears in full attentiveness to any and all sounds that he could hear.

Soon enough, the footsteps faded away and there was an empty silence left within the house.

Once the duo was sure that there was no one left in and around the house other than them, they quickly left the house through the back door and ran as far as they could.
