"I hope we still are friends after the little stunt I pulled." Henry was talking to a girl when Alex entered the countryside home of Henry.

"We sure are, I didn't mind the prank."

"I will meet you soon." The girl leaves.

"Who was she ?" Alex asks after the girl has left.

"Just an acquaintance." Henry passes a soft smile to him as he grabs Alex's suitcase.

The moment both of them were alone and Alex's hands were not all over Henry, he was not hugging him, kissing him. Henry knew his decision to call Alex here and talk in person about their actual deal was correct. He always thought Alex's way of expressing love was having a dirty mouth and skills he was slowly acquiring to go with it, but now it felt strange not worshipping Alex's body in this closed space.

"This is your room." Henry stalls in front of a room with Alex's suitcase.

"How much of the staff will be present here?" Alex questions Henry.

"There is no staff, I asked mom to give all the personal space so I can have a breather."

There is a sign of relief on Alex's face. Henry doesn't know if it is because they both will be having personal time or because despite not having staff over, Henry has given Alex a different room.

"I will unpack and be out in a few moments."

"Take your time. I will prepare lunch till then."

Alex unpacks while Henry prepares lunch for both of them. He cooks some fish with sausages and hard boils some eggs.

Alex and Henry sit across each other at the dining table, and Henry presents the plates.

"The girl from earlier seemed familiar. I have seen her somewhere." Alex breaks the eerie silence that was lingering on the table.

"She was the girl I was dating according to the tabloids."

"That is why she seemed familiar."

"Were you not uncomfortable with me dating her ?"

"Henry, you need to keep up the appearances. I know that for a fact." Alex knew Henry was gay and he would never date a girl, so he replied in a general tone. He didn't want to give in to Henry about the lie so soon. He wants to have some moments with Henry before everything falls apart once again.

He sensed Henry knows something about the past, or Henry has felt something because Henry gave him a separate room, didn't kiss him senseless the very moment they were alone.

While Alex sighed a breath of relief because of the kiss that didn't happen and separate rooms, since he was not sure what level of intimacy he was ready to be at with Henry it still broke his heart a little realising that no matter what happens they have these unseen boundaries between them which they both want to cross but are held back.

"What was she doing here anyway?" Alex asks the question that had been disturbing him from the moment he saw her with Henry after a lingering silence despite knowing it is nothing like that. He hated how she got to show Henry belonged to her without him belonging to her, but he never once got that opportunity.

"My family sent her since she is my current girlfriend as per the articles."

"As far as I know, your news of coming here is a secret, and it will not be revealed to the media."

"I went to more than one date with her so the family thinks we are actually a thing at the moment."

"So what is the deal between you two ? We decided to talk about her but didn't get the time." Alex lies through his teeth to seem convincing about the non-existent relationship between them still exists.

"Apparently, she is a lesbian and decided to confide in me, owing to how I have been going with the LGBTQ+ shelters. I also gave her my truth. I don't know how it felt at that moment, but I have a feeling it must have felt great telling a stranger about my reality. I don't know how many people I am out to yet, but knowing I told someone my identity makes me feel happy. Then she told me we decided to keep up the facade of us dating. It made both our homophobic families happy."

Alex brushes his thumb slowly over the back of Henry's hand and doesn't stop for a long time. He knew how light Henry must have felt telling someone who shares the same fate and situation as Henry his reality. Sharing the truth with someone who would have understood him more than anyone would have made him feel both sad for the person who shares the same problem but also extremely relieved that there was someone who understood him.
"We were going to date for about a year before we broke up, and whenever the topic of marriage came up again, act like stuck up on each other. I told her to wait for some time before we broke up. She can tell her family the truth about my memory loss, and we get NDAs signed from them. She can act hung up on me and get away easily, saying I didn't love her again."

"What about you?"

"I want to relax for now and think about it later. I want to spend my time with you for now."

A genuine smile covers Alex's face because that is what even he wants to do. Alex finds Henry holding a sausage when he digs back into his food. He lifts up a little from his seat and grabs the sausage between his teeth, cuts it, and makes a moaning sound while chewing it.

"So good." Alex licks his lips, flushing Henry with his antics.

The rest of the meal passes in silence. Henry picks up the plates and carries them to the sink.

"Do you have anything in your mind, Alex?" Henry asks Alex as he is doing the dishes.

"Nothing much. I want to sleep, though. I am very tired."

"You rest for a while."

"What are you going to do ?"

"Netflix, maybe."

"Rest with me."

"I can do that at night."

"Let us have a Star Wars marathon at night."

"Done. You rest up, and I will do it when I am done with the dishes."

Alex gets up and starts moving towards Henry's room.

"Where are you going?"

"To rest."

"I mean, that is your room." Henry points in the opposite direction to where Alex was moving.

"But I want to rest with you." Alex had given it a lot of thought throughout the lunch. If he wanted to spend more time with Henry, he needed to let go of some of his inhibitions related to their relationship. This was the reason he wanted it to start with sharing bed with Henry before it was too late.

"Ok. I will join you in 5 minutes." Henry quickens doing the the dishes. He was elated as Alex was taking such steps to rekindle their relationship. The distance Henry had sensed earlier was automatically reduced when Alex arrived here not only physically but emotionally as well.

Henry lies down next to Alex, who has already claimed the left side of the bed. Alex sleeps on the entire bed rolling so he never minds what side he is sleeping on, while Henry is a stagnant sleeper, he will usually wake up in the position he slept in. Thus, when they slept for the first time together and Henry claimed the right side, Alex made an overdramatic fuss about wanting the right side only as a joke.

Alex was so tired from the travelling that he was already snoring when Henry arrived but when the other side of the bed dipped Alex moved his hand to hold Henry's hand and snuggled closer to him while sleeping.
