FROM JAIBLYNN'S POV:
"Since our job is to stop faeries from escaping from pockets, we can't allow the faeries in you guys' group to go free here. We are obligated to take the faeries with us." I saw Rosalynn looking at me with scared eyes but I didn't return her blik. Because both me and Eleni saw the opportunity. Maybe I should have been panicked but I certainly wasn't. The border pocket was a myth among poor people. It was a place to dream of but we never thought it could actually be a real place. No one ever said anything about humans but people always assumed it would be some protectors in the border pocket. I didn't expect any humans to actually live in pockets voluntarily but it looks like I was wrong. I winked to Eleni and raised my hands toward the guards. It was not good that we were splitting in a such a foreign pocket but we can't afford to give up here. We could find the pocket door to the outside world and be free. And if I have to be under Feran's control for a while for that I would do it.
"Wait, wait, wait, you can't just decide to take my friends with you just because they are faeries. We didn't even mean to come here in the first place, stop tying my friends and just let us go" That's my girl, always so protective. I smiled with Rosalynn's words but we still couldn't give up so I looked at Eleni and told her from my mind to tell Rosalynn our plan. It was not fair to go from Rosalynn so soon after she lost her father but there was no other choice.
"My friend Rose is just a little confused but we did fully mean to come to Guernri and we are definitely aware of the rules here so you can take the faeries here with you as long as we get to be here. We don't want to go Rosalinda don't know what she is talking about, right Rosalinda?" Rosalynn looked at Eleni with shooting eyes after her interven. I could see that she was hella angry at the moment. I couldn't stop my smile when Eleni pulled her to the side and guards started tying us.
"Stop grinning like we are going to a party. Everyone sees it," said Xara, elbowing me. Yes, right. Still it was starting to be an automatic thing to me. She has been through so much and was still up and standing and defending us to a possibly very powerful king.
I thought about how broken she looked when she woke up and told us her father was dead. I couldn't imagine her pain of losing her father right after finding him. I don't even think she got over her mom being killed and then she loses her father too. She was so very strong. I never had emotionally available parents, I can't even say that I had parents, they treated me and Eleni just some people from their court instead of their children. We learnt to be each other's parents with Eleni so I couldn't empathize with Rosalynn enough but I could still see that she was doing an amazing job at coping.
I snapped out of my thoughts when Onyx asked me what we were doing from my mind. I have to admit that my plan of splitting was kinda risky but I couldn't come up with a better plan in such a short time. So I told him what I and Eleni thought about. I wasn't perfect but it was something. Fortunately Onyx agreed when I explained everything so it was good. Xara and I could adapt to things quickly but Onyx wasn't like us. I knew that he struggled to adapt to new situations but he was doing a good job so far and I made myself a mental note to talk him through this when we arrive where we are going.
I was expecting a short walk to some kind of dungeon or something but we walked for a very long time. We passed all the tall buildings and stopped in front of something looking like a cave under a mountain. Was it here they are going to keep us? This cave doesn't look very safe to me. If there is no extra security inside the cave I could easily escape here. As on cue all the guards turned to me and frowned.
"No you can't. Because this is a reflecting cave which means your thoughts are echoing inside of our minds so whenever you think about escaping we will hear it and so will the cave. And this cave won't let you guys get out as long as king Fernan orders it directly." Isn't that just great?
