Who Were You?

Who were you?
Memories flashed in my mind anew
As I was trying to trace faces of a few.
Fate played it's cards right
When you were jostled by my sight
Who were you?
All I can recall is a beautiful stranger in gloom
As clueless as me, locked his eyes with mine;
And oh so swiftly you sauntered across the room,
Seeming as delectable as that wine and dine.
Who were you?
Flaunting all your flair,
You floated through the dull air.
Immersed in that magnificent glory,
I knew this could be the start of a delightful story.
Who were you?
I strived to pull off a face card
To garner your gratification, was a task too hard.
In the town gathering of who's who,
I was guilty of making it all about you.
Who were you?
Just then the heavens were in accord,
When I presumed my presence struck a chord,
When you walked that anticipative walk,
And finally talked that enthralling talk.
Who were you?
In a moment you went from my love, starstruck, to a lover star crossed.
I watched your body embraced and your mind engrossed.
How can I call her "the other woman" in this ill-fated tale?
When it was all in my head where the ship of our love set on a sail.
