08 'Secrets of Delight'

Eva's POV:

"Hey, Jay," I called out.

"Hmm?" he replied.

"Your friends said they're going to wait for you after class, right?" I asked.

"Yeah," he confirmed.

"Then you shouldn't wait for me and go early, since you know I'll be late, right?" I suggested.

"Yes, my friends and I know you'll be late, and why you'll be late, so don't think about it, okay?" Jay said with a hint of stubbornness.

"Okay," I agreed, thinking to myself, He's so stubborn.

-the bell rang-

Jay's POV:

"Hey, let's go," Eva said, nudging me on the shoulder as I dozed off at my desk, my head resting on my arms. I jerked awake, rubbing my eyes.

"Huh, oh okay," I replied, disoriented, as I noticed the classroom was almost empty and the day's lessons were over. The warm sunlight streaming through the windows highlighted the dust motes dancing in the air.

Eva and I had finished our tasks, methodically closing the doors and windows, ensuring the classroom was secure. Now, we were eager to join our friends.

"Jay, do you think the others are still waiting for us outside?" Eva asked, her voice laced with worry, as we hastily closed the last door of the hallway. Her brow furrowed, and her eyes sparkled with concern.

"Yes, but first, stop rushing, you might hurt yourself," I cautioned, smiling reassuringly. I knew Eva's tendency to worry about others.

We scanned the school compound, searching for our friends. As we spotted them waiting outside the school gate, we hurriedly closed the shutters and main gate, making sure everything was secure. With a final check, we joined our friends, and our group now totaled eight. The warm sunshine and gentle breeze accompanied us as we walked out together.

Heeseung's POV:

As I waited with the others near the main gate, I saw Jay and Eva approaching us. Jake said, "You guys are earlier than expected."

Jay retorted, "Yeah, we are, because someone was panicking, thinking some people would collapse on the floor if they waited just five minutes more!" He teased Eva, who looked adorable with her flushed cheeks. Ah, Jay's still teasing Eva, Wait- is he teasing us too?! I wonder how she'll react time goes.

Sunoo chimed in, clinging to Eva's arm, "Aww, is that so, Eva? You're so sweet! Jay hyung, make her your girlfriend ASAP! I can't wait to be with her all the time!" I rolled my eyes good-naturedly, Sunoo's always like this, but it's cute.

Jake intervened, saving us from the awkwardness, "Whatever, let's go." Thanks, Jake, let's not make this any more awkward.

But Eva asked, "Wait, are you guys sure you don't want to hang out?" She may seemed to notice we weren't prepared for a hangout session.

Jake replied, "What's the point? It's supposed to be a 'catch up with each other' hangout, and you weren't coming."  Yeah, that's true, but Eva seems different today.
