AUTHOR'S POV (Eleven Days Ago)

Kartikeya tugged the dry towel properly around his waist. His entire body was still damp from the shower he had taken just moments ago, with each droplet sliding from his hair down his body and eventually collecting in the towel, drawing in his V line.

He walked briskly to the wardrobe, stealing a quick glance at the room from the slightly ajar door. His eyes lingered on his peacefully sleeping wife before shifting to the mirror in front of him.

Despite not being a gym enthusiast, his body remained impeccably sculpted, with defined abs and perfect triceps.

He possessed everything a man could desire in life: money, fame, and a family, including a wife currently resting in their bed.

The one thing absent in his life was calmness-the stillness he yearned for, the hope he sought, and the reassurance from someone he craved.

Above all, what he desired the most was a better sleep.

Pushing every thought aside, he quickly retrieved the black three-piece suit from the wardrobe. In a fluid motion, he slipped into his briefs and then into the suit, the fabric draping over him with tailored precision.

Sprinkling his favorite cologne, 'Tom Ford Ombre Leather Parfum,' he ran his hands through his wavy raven hair, adjusting the watch on his wrist. With confident movements, he pushed his feet into sleek black leather shoes before walking out of the room.

He walked into the room, glancing at Anandita. He had tucked her into bed half an hour ago. When he entered the room in the morning, she was sleeping on the floor, curled up in a peaceful slumber.

Tearing his gaze away, he walked to the small table where his briefcase awaited. Swiftly picking it up, he turned back to Anandita. Gently brushing a strand of hair away from her face, his touch caused her to stir slightly, but she remained in a deep sleep.

Pulling out a card from his briefcase pocket, he placed it on the nightstand next to her.

Sighing, he walked outside, stepped downstairs, and left the room quietly. He found his mom at the dining table, cutting fruits. She had a habit of waking up early-really early.

She frowned as she watched him get ready so early in the morning and asked, "Where are you going this early?"

"Have an important meeting," he replied, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl. She nodded in understanding.
